Deleted Article
editI have deleted the page as not one person has bothered to cite any refs on this article. Get a grip!!! (Archangel1 (talk) 23:23, 10 November 2008 (UTC)).
- A cursory look indicates that it's likely all the necessary references can be found in the linked articles. While it might be ideal to have all of them referenced here it's hardly a reason to blank the article if it's not. Exxolon (talk) 02:12, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- You might be new to this but as per Wikipedia rules, article page must have the ref's on that particuler page (Archangel1 (talk) 11:10, 12 November 2008 (UTC)).
- I think people got the point - the addition of the "reference" tags does nothing positive to this article, and is merely a distraction at this point. You can remove them ... or I can. -t BMW c- 15:11, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- It stays on there till it get fixed. Thats why you have tags in the first place!!!!!(Archangel1 (talk) 15:29, 12 November 2008 (UTC)).
- The tag at the top can stay, your blanking of the page said volumes. Remove the tags throughout the article, all will be well. In the time that took, you could have added some references. :-) -t BMW c- 15:58, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

I've just added a reference for the Argentinian 4th Parachute Brigade and done some tidying up edits to the relevant other articles. It does not seem particulary hard to find references to the units with a little digging. Exxolon (talk) 19:23, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- For the record this is out of my area of expertise entirely - if I can find references any military buffs should have no problems sourcing this list easily. Exxolon (talk) 19:27, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- And the Austrians are done too now. Exxolon (talk) 19:38, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- I have to agree - I'm not a military expert by any means. I've added a few for Cdn after minimal research. Those who watch and regularly edit this page should have no issues if they work together. -t BMW c- 19:39, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
USMC Pathfinding
editI deleted the units under the United States Marine Corps, and placed it by what is more appropriate.
MARSOC doesn't conduct pathfinding operations because they are nowhere near any missions that would provide the Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF), Landing Force (LF), or Amphibious Task Force (ATF) commander in helicopter landings during their ship-to-shore movement. They support the USSOCOM, they aren't a Fleet Marine Force unit.
ANGLICO do not pathfind either, they provide combat flight control instead, to guide helicopters via radio.
Paramarines? Please, impossible for them to conduct pathfinding because helicopters weren't effectively used for troop carriers until 10 years, during the last phases of the Korean War and thereafter. Paramarines were disbanded before the end of the war in 1944.
And Radio Recon do not pathfind because they are the supplemented electronic warfare support for Radio Battalions and augment reconnaissance, not pathfinding, if other primary Marine recon assets are unavailable. Only Force Recon and Division Recon were the primary sources for pathfinding. And it has long been replaced by Remote Sensor Operations, and is usually performed by Force Recon.

Air Assault
editPeople need to understand that the 101st Airborne is still a form of Airborne. It is just no longer "paratroopers." Half of the units listed in this article are not paratroopers but Air Assault which is similar to gliderborne troops of the Second World War.Fury 1991 (talk) 17:44, 16 March 2017 (UTC)Fury 1991

Unit badges
editI suggest removing all of the unit badges. They just seem to be decorative, and are distracting. (Hohum @) 01:41, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
Australian Special Operations Engineer Regiment
editI have removed this unit from the list following an examination of both the references provided. The first reference said little more than the unit was part of the Australian Special Operations Command, and the second reference's only mention of the unit was that the Parachute Training School had SOER sappers on it's staff. That does not adequately support the contention that the whole unit could be inserted by parachute. Cheers Buckshot06 (talk) 16:20, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
- Right. Sorry. My mistake. --Arturolorioli (talk) 18:59, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
Dead Links?
editWhy the reference links for the France section have been indicated as "dead links"? They work just fine for me. --Arturolorioli (talk) 18:57, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
- They work for me too. Your last edit seemed to add the dead link tags by the way. (Hohum @) 19:01, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
Refimprove template removal?
editI've finished a large revision of the page, complete with extensive references (as requested by user:Buckshot06 - see [1]). I think that now "the issue has been adequately addressed" as per Help:Maintenance_template_removal#When_to_remove (point 1), and the refimprove template could probably be removed. Any opinion? --Arturolorioli (talk) 22:32, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
- As no objections have been raised, and the page is now adequately referenced, I've removed the refimprove template. All the best. --Arturolorioli (talk) 11:13, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
USA: 101st Airborne Division AWOL?
editSince the 82nd Airborne Division is listed, shouldn't the 101st Airborne Division be included with other American paratrooper forces? Phantom in ca (talk) 02:43, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- 101st is only airborne in name, as they are in actuality an air assault division. Garuda28 (talk) 16:20, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
Afghan Paratroopers
editThere were Afghan paratroopers from the 1960s to 1992 GenerationMeat (talk) 14:09, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- Do you have a source? - wolf 15:37, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
Only pictures. GenerationMeat (talk) 17:20, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
My uncle also served along Afghan paratroopers but I know Wikipedia won't be able to use that as a source. However I had links to Russian websites that did talk about Afghan paratroopers. GenerationMeat (talk) 17:21, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
I also have a link to an article about an Afghan female paratrooper but I cannot send the link as it won't let me. Her name is Khatool Mohmmadzai and her service uniform has a red badge with a parachute and three stars which is a clear indicator she was a paratrooper.
