Omit "by country". It is unnecessarily precise, as there is no other list of the same things sorted a different way. (See precision and conciseness in WP:CRITERIA, and WP:LISTNAME.) Adumbrativus (talk) 04:51, 21 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Oppose and Support alternative proposal List of places with stolpersteine per WP:CONCISE and WP:PRECISION. The question of how content is presented within an article, such as the order of sections in a historical article (chronological? or by theme?) is purely a matter of style and the consensus of the editors working on the article. It is entirely unnecessary to push the sort order of a list or table into the article title, as per WP:PRECISION the title List of places with stolpersteine fully specifies the article topic, *and* distinguishes it from every other article on the encyclopedia. (Unless one envisages having two articles on the same topic, each article sorted a different way, but that would be unprecedented, and would not survive a MERGE discussion.) Per WP:CONCISE, it is not necessary to include "by country" in the title, any more than it's necessary to change List of chemical elements to List of chemical elements by atomic number or List of chemical elements by discovery date, or to change List of Academy Award-winning films to List of Academy Award-winning films by inverse date because the order is strictly an internal style matter, and there is no ARTICLE-based policy that supports including it in the title of an article. date formats edit

The article was using mixed date formats - primarily MDY and DMY with the odd ordinal thrown in in various places. I've tried to rationalise this to DMY - there are stronger national ties to this format per DATEVAR than to MDY throughout Europe, although both are obviously used. I've not touched the references format, although this is also mixed and there might be some benefit to using YYYY-MM-DD as a format for these.

In many cases I could remove the reference to the day entirely - in most cases this is not really needed. I might work through again and see if I can do that a bit more frequently. Blue Square Thing (talk) 08:22, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
