In the description for s1e4 ("Elementary, My Dear Murdoch"), "Murdoch's skepticism is further shook" should be "Murdoch's skepticism is further shaken". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.255.171.122 (talk) 00:02, 15 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

.... Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the season has been shortened to eleven episodes instead of the usual eighteen.[1]

The final "s" in the URL should not be there. CBC seems to have a typo on the web location. Ie, the URL should be

The section links provided in the link7 through link13, link15, and link16 parameters in § Series overview should be updated to the new section header formats (linking to #Season 7 (2013-2014) rather than the outdated #Season 7 (2013-14), for example), as they are all currently deadlinks. 104.246.216.7 (talk) 06:13, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please change the date ranges to correctly use en-dashes rather than hyphens. For example, 2004-2005 should read 2004–2005 2004–2005 or as is stated in MOS:YEARRANGE.

Terminal punctuation is also needed after "for the event of Halley’s Comet".

Already done Referring to the first edit. Please do not insert multiple edit requests in a single section, you can just have one request template for any number of distinct suggestions. Actualcpscm (talk) 09:48, 17 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Done Referring to the second edit. Actualcpscm (talk) 09:53, 17 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Only half done, sorry. The terminal punctuation is still missing. Also, I don't know why you would chastise someone for offering support simply because some format that is neither intuitive nor easily access was done incorrectly. I also realized that it's using a curly apostrophe that needs to be removed. Finally, the links in the series overview table do not actually link to anything. I could probably fix it, but someone decided that new editors do not get to fix the mistakes that experienced editors make. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:E996:6FB9:E231:4E00 (talk) 03:30, 19 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

You're being unfair to someone who's trying to help you and others by simply asking you (in the nicest possible way) to combine your edit requests.
I have added the terminal punctuation and fixed the curly apostrophe. I will leave the links for Actualcpscm or someone else to look into. M.Bitton (talk) 14:26, 19 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@M.Bitton Thanks for fixing that, the links should work too now! Actualcpscm (talk) 17:11, 19 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
My bad, I misread that.
It was not my intention to chastise you, and I do not get the impression that I did so. I understand that Wikipedia and its editing practices can be complex and initially overwhelming, which is exactly why I gave you some advice on how to follow established procedures.
I've fixed the issue of the links. While you can't do it yourself, you should still be able to see the source code of the page. If you want to make the job of other editors easier, it's best to figure out the specific issue yourself, if you can. That way, you can point out the technical problem (and even a solution). If you can't or don't have time, that's fine too; anything that makes Wikipedia a better encyclopedia is welcome, even just pointing out issues.
Lastly, nobody "decided that new editors do not get to fix the mistakes that experienced editors make"; the point of Wikipedia is that basically everyone can contribute. The page protection mechanisms do not exist to exclude new editors, they are put in place to prevent vandalism or similar disruptive behaviour. You can usually find the exact reasoning in the page's protection log. Actualcpscm (talk) 17:10, 19 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks again. You have a procedure, but you did not actually say how to implement the procedure. The difference: "drive until you get to the store" vs supplying the route to the store and (ideally) the vehicle as well. 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:915A:3276:FBBA:8581 (talk) 04:17, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Rather than semiprotecting the article (which I gather means there is some class of editor who can and another class cannot edit the article) why not allow edits from everyone and have people review the edits. That seems simpler than using some convoluted request system to inform editors of necessary edits and making them both determine if the request is or is not valid and then making said request. I suspect you should request that of the whole creative commons. 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:915A:3276:FBBA:8581 (talk) 04:26, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
That was tried and did not work. There's a lot of information on these policies, I'd advise you to read into it a bit before making off-handed remarks and recommendations. Start here for this topic. Actualcpscm (talk) 11:15, 26 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

And I would advise you not to reference nebulous policies. Rather, point directly to what has transpired. From what I have shown here locking this page down has resulted in poor edits from inferior editors. Even you can see that. 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:1972:9441:1F64:9130 (talk) 18:49, 1 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Semi-protected edit request on 10 October 2023 edit

Fix the date ranges edit

The years are separated by hyphens and someone has locked the article for editing for some unknown reason.

  • A simple year–year range is written using an en dash (, – or {{ndash}}, or {{nbnd}} for a non-breaking en dash), not an em dash, hyphen, or slash; this dash is unspaced (that is, with no space on either side); and the end year is usually given in full:
    • 1881–1882;  1881–1886 (not 1881–86);  1881–1892 (not 1881–92)
      • Markup: 1881{{ndash}}1882 or 1881–1882

Taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Dates_and_numbers

Either remove the protection, relax it, fix the problem or block Actualcpscm from responding since their earlier responses were unhelpful to say the least.

Fix the date as well edit

The text currently reads "On June 1st." It needs a year and should not be an ordinal: "on June 1, 2023." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:256A:B65:4D2D:64D3 (talk) 00:54, 5 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Done. You can request protection of a page be removed yourself at WP:RPP/D. The protection is not in place for some unknown reason, Actualcpscm has helpfully pointed you directly to the protection log for this page. Tollens (talk) 20:10, 10 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please fix the date correctly edit

Thanks for helping. The first edit—to use correctly use en-dashes for years—was appreciated. The change in Season 17 (2023) now reads "On June 1st, 2023" which is not supported at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Dates_and_numbers#Formats . It should read "On June 1, 2023".

Also thanks for posting a link to the protection log. Actualcpscm's link did not link to the same location. In my browser, at least, it results in "There are problems with some of your input." 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:1D4C:DB17:5020:8232 (talk) 17:20, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Done - whoops, didn't even notice the ordinal when I added the year. Thanks for the catch. Tollens (talk) 23:21, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Oh for crying out loud edit

Looks like someone is having problems typing. The heading that formerly read "Season 17 (2023)" now reads "Season 17 (2023=2024)". Notice the equal sign. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Murdoch_Mysteries_episodes&diff=prev&oldid=1180027984 I assume that since we do not know when the season will end, we did not want to include an ending year. If the ending year is acceptable, it should read "Season 17 (2023–2024)" replete with an en-dash. I have no issue with removing "=2024" completely. 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:9486:26E4:860:ED5A (talk) 05:50, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

  Done - I've reverted that addition; it's now back to "Season 17 (2023)". Tollens (talk) 07:20, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Georgia76 stuffed up the date formatting again edit

Georgia76 stuffed up the date formatting again: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Murdoch_Mysteries_episodes&diff=prev&oldid=1186382842 A hyphen rather than an en-dash, and no content in 2024, so the end year is an assumption. 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:5D2D:54E9:809F:A6FE (talk) 17:54, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

It also seems as though the "Television films" section, which probably shouldn't be listed in this article, are suffering from a hyphen as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:5D2D:54E9:809F:A6FE (talk) 17:58, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Done 2024 date removed and en dash put in Television films header. Is there a location you think would be better for that section? Tollens (talk) 00:31, 24 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Series overview link broken edit

The links in the Series overview section do not connect correctly to the season sections in the body of the article. 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:5D2D:54E9:809F:A6FE (talk) 17:56, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Done – the links used hyphens rather than en dashes so they weren't connecting. Tollens (talk) 00:33, 24 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
IP editor: it's highly possible you know this already, and my apologies if you've already been told this, but you might want to consider creating an account – after 4 days and 10 edits you will be able to edit this page yourself. Tollens (talk) 00:42, 24 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Unproductive editing edit

Xeditboy and Georgia76 are editing in an unproductive way: repeatedly undoing the other's contents. How about getting someone who understands the area of dispute to offer an opinion. 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:5D2D:54E9:809F:A6FE (talk) 17:56, 23 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Xeditboy and Georgia76: Please discuss the issue here rather than continuing to revert. Edit warring is edit warring, even if you don't violate WP:3RR. Continuing to revert without discussion may lead to being blocked from editing. Tollens (talk) 00:39, 24 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hyphen and series overview link broken again edit

Georgia76 used a hyphen for the date range, but supplied a possible reference to state that the series will continue in 2024.

1: Please change the 2023-2024 heading to 2023–2024.

2: Please link the series overview to the new heading when done.

2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:70E8:32AA:E4F:F4DD (talk) 17:58, 7 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Done Changed, it was a simple good faith edit so please be mindful of comments you're posting and remember WP:NPA. Lewcm Talk to me! 13:39, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Is it a personal attack to point out that an editor is unaware of the way Wikipedia is supposed to work? If it happens on occasion, it's an error. If it happens repeatedly, it needs to be pointed out and the behaviour needs to be corrected.

Hyphens in headings again edit

Please change the 2023-2024 heading to 2023–2024. The series overview should also be changed to point to the new heading for season 17. 2604:3D08:9B7B:E800:C84:39BE:F7F1:E647 (talk) 23:28, 14 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
