64 bit compatibility edit

Could we add a column showing wether or not the games are 64-bit compatible, please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.40.132.74 (talk) 01:48, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Improper Page Name edit

I'm not sure the naming of this page is appropriate. Per the description, this is a list of "Games for Windows" games, not a list of games for Windows. 69.249.105.5 05:47, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I reckon it should actually be called "list of games for games for widows" Jhalkompwdr 17:16, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

What do you (I mean everyone) say about List of Games for Windows titles, or List of products branded Games for Windows, or something like these? --Szajd 15:35, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I moved it to "List of Games for Windows titles" as that's a simple and clear title Jeff Paine 13:10, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Tray and Play list edit

Currently it is only Halo 2 for Windows that is known to have Tray and Play capability, but I suspect more games will support this feature, should we have a column for it? NRG753 05:08, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Done. If Halo 2 ends up being the only game that supports it we can always take it out down the road. Jeff Paine 13:20, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
UNO Is going to support multiplayer between xbox 360 and vista shouldn't be in the list? Or is another list for

arcades be made for those that are available and those that are not. I think HEXIC is also going to support multiplayer in between but i'm not sure.

When I made this list, I went by the gamesforwindows.com website, which doesn't have Hexic or Uno listed (there's a few others that aren't listed, Overlord comes to mind). Feel free to add them to the list. Jeff Paine 13:03, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Old and new GfW edit

I think we should somehow differntiate the "old" and "new" GfW games.

I mean, there's a difference between the older ones (like Age of Empires III), having a small (and older) Games for Windows logo on the bottom, and the newer ones (like Flight Simulator X), which has a huge banner strip accross the top with the new (Vista-based) logo. Also, I'm not sure, but I think the older GfW games didn't need to meet these newer specifications.

What do you think?

--Szajd 09:57, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't think any of the "old" GFW games are listed, I went by gamesforwindows.com, and I double-checked and they all have the strip across the top. And since Age of Empires III isn't on the site (just an expansion) I'm guessing they didn't list any older ones.

In any case, I don't think it's necessary to compile a list of games under the "old" GFW label, as there's really nothing special about those games except for a little logo on the box.

Jeff Paine 13:06, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

You're right. I don't know why I thought that there are any "old" GfW titles listed... But I did think that there are. Probably that Age of Empires III thing confused me.
I'm sorry about that, and thanks for double-checking. --Szajd 17:05, 9 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Expansions edit

A lot of the games here are expansion packs, the original game was not certified (usually because it pre-dates GfW), but then became certified at a later time (when the expansion was released). Should we split this in to two lists, one for games that were GfW certified on initial launch, and another for games which have been certified later? 84.92.62.165 23:38, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just to clarify, I was thinking, the list of games certified at expansion might state the name of the game in the name column, then have an additional "Certified As Of" column with the name of the first certified expansion pack, that way games with multipul certified expansions don't need to be listed several times (e.g. Zoo Tycoon 2), and it can be implied that games that are listed in the former list are certified (any version), and the later list certified af of the listed expansion and any later releases.

Something like this (don't trust the accuracy of my lists, just demonstrating what I mean):

Certified Games Since Launch edit

Certified Games as of an Expansion edit

Date format & sort button edit

Regarding the order of words (TBA), and date format – in order for the table's sort button to work correctly, you should put dates in order of YYYY-MM-DD, including zeros (e.g. 2007-07-13). The same applies for the TBA entries. If you put it like "TBA Q4 2007" – although it sounds better – it will be sorted incorrectly:

TBA Q4 2007 and TBA Q4 2008 would be sorted together where it should be TBA Q3 2007 and TBA Q4 2007 sorted together.

The sort button will become useful when the list gets longer in time so it would be good if it worked properly. I added brackets after the year, like: "TBA 2007 (Fall)" hoping it would sound better this time. Thanks for considering. ---Majestic- 22:26, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Games For Windows Branding edit

Unreal Tournament 3

After reading the article it doesen't show that this game is on games for windows. The box art in te article shows olny the normal PC label too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.38.203.115 (talk) 00:55, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Uno

I've heard that uno along with other games from xbox live arcarde will becom available in the end of 2007 maybe there should be another section for arcade games or at least uno should be listed--84.60.244.198 19:58, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

FallOut: New Vegas Hey people, can you confirm if Fallout New Vegas has changed the box art to PC DVD? Since it's using steamworks now, The GFW logo would be removed i think. So the reason i removed Fallout New vegas from the upcoming list. reply ASAP!- VividNinjaScarDualshock03 (talk) 14:10, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Na, it is still a Games for Windows title, it just isn't LIVE enabled. Like Brink is as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by VividNinjaScar (talkcontribs) 19:26, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

MechWarrior

Isn't this old news? Since July 2009,Microsoft did'nt have anymore announcements with this game. I think this is not the right time for now.. Maybe finding for more clues.Dualshock03 (talk) 16:36, 23 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Elemental: War of Magic

I removed this a while before for some reason that the website had nothing mentioned on Games for Windows branding. Can anyone provide a LINK for the final box art?Dualshock03 (talk) 17:24, 25 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not final, but [1] --Wean0r (talk) 19:15, 25 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Football Manager 2011

For those who are inserting this game as Games for windows title, search again. Its Steam powered and should only be listed under the "Other Titles" section Dualshock03 (talk) 07:38, 19 November 2010 (UTC) ---> @Tig3rFangReply

Achievements edit

Can a column for Achievements be added to this page? As far as I am aware the GFW games that currently support achievements are Shadowrun, Halo 2, Gears of war, Kane and lynch, Universe at war. I believe Uno is supposed to also. I also think that Halo 2 and Gears of war for windows are the only ones to have separate achievements than it's 360 counterpart, IE in gears of war, you can earn separate achievements for Gears of war (360) than you earn for Gears of war (GFW), whereas Kane and lynch, you can earn achievements in both version, but they only show up as one list. not 100% on this part, so you may not want to signify the difference between games that have their own achievement list and ones that share the list with the 360 version. 12.2.142.7 (talk) 23:02, 26 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

There's definitely room. Do you just need help doing it because you're not sure how, or are you asking for consensus on whether it should be done? xenocidic (talk) 23:03, 26 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Some of both, I think. I am not too familiar with how to lay out a table in wikipedia code, plus I am unable to find a list of PC games with achievements anywhere online, so I wasn't sure if I was the only one interested :P 12.2.142.7 (talk) 16:10, 29 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I totally agreed on the fact that an Achievements column could and should be added, so I took the liberty of adding it to the table. I allready filled in some games that I believe do indeed have PC achievements, but I'm not completelly sure on some of them, so if someone could double check the list for me, that would be great.-Jort227 (talk) 15:39, 16 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I came to this page hoping it would have a list of which pc games have achievements. I can't play games without achievements anymore. Great list. I have Halo 2 and Gears of War... sad to see so few games have achievements. All 360 games do tho, so that's uber mega sweet. 24.72.113.212 (talk) 20:16, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Adding an achivements column was totally pointless. To have your game Games for Windows Live Enabled it MUST have achivements. (source - [2]
Every single game with Games for Windows Live has achivements. I'm going to try and work out how to remove this column because it is pointless. Gunrun (talk) 16:54, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
Should we make some sort of distinction on the page that indicates what the game being "Live" actually means? I think there is some confusion over this. Maybe explain the difference or nudge people over to the Games for Windows - Live page?Zeusandhera (talk) 04:08, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think DAMNATION and SAINTS ROW 2 are not a Games For Windows Title at all. I removed it several times, but its still listed.. Please include some links for clarification on this titles. For Modern Warfare 2 and BioShock 2, they should be listed on UPCOMING section for they're still too far yet and subject to change..

Batman, Red Faction: Guerilla, are still TBA on GFW website [[[3]]] so it should also be on UPCOMING list, even if anyone will indicate release dates.

Overlord II, Majesty 2, and Street Fighter IV are still pending release on 2009. Again.. should be listed on UPCOMING list..--dualshock03 (talk) 22:46, 10 June 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.54.32.101 (talk) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.54.32.99 (talk) Reply

DAMNATION and SAINTS ROW 2 are not Games for Windows titles. what do u think??--dualshock03 (talk) 09:20, 13 June 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.96.189.183 (talk) Reply

I concur in the article having a sloppy criteria for deciding whether games go in the 2009/Upcoming categories, a criteria which seems to be determined mostly by SkyWalker's liking. I'd say unless a proper (ie enforced by a guideline) reason is given, all unreleased games should be moved to the "Upcoming" section. --uKER (talk) 14:57, 19 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree!! Permission to remove BORDERLANDS in the list. Its not a Games For Windows brand at all. I've checked their website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.54.32.105 (talk) 11:18, 20 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

You don't have to ask for permission. Just do it. If your changes can't be validated, someone will correct it. Do not worry about it. --uKER (talk) 13:39, 20 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please stop editing to anyone who are adding wrong information titles.. Alan Wake, Dead Rising 2, Blazblue and Super Street Fighter IV are not yet announce coming to Games For Windows Titles, so please stop messing unreliable information.. If anyone can put citations correctly that will be accepted.. Gfwl2010 (talk) 16:02, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

To VividNinjaScar (View History Tab) The IGN website your putting as a source is not a reliable as it seemed for just those box art to conclude that its a Games For Windows title, much better if it would be an official announcement.. Bulletstorm and Crysis 2 aren't even Games For Windows brand at there respective website. Lost Planet 2 and Max Payne 3 was just been announced coming for PC, no GFW news. For Red Faction: Armaggedon I doubt it will be using the Games For Windows - LIVE Dualshock03 (talk) 05:32, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Claiming one source isn't good enough deosn't work. Mafia 2 was slated as a GFWL title for the longest time, even with advertisements and trailers with the logo, but turned out to all be false. Until it is otherwise seen, we might as well consider them upcoming GFW titles. Armageddon will be using LIVE, if you would have checked the source and seen the official website. VividNinjaScar (talk) 12:52, 17 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Looks like you answered already my reason for removing some of your list.. you see, its just a dummy box art. Lets not make this an argument coz i know you and you know me at the Games For Windows - Forums. hehehe Well its up to you then, but for me, IGN isnt 80% good source for this article.. better have sources like the bigdownload or joystiq and kotaku or directly from the official website. Your new list might raise eyebrows at the forums. ^^, Please dont change the release dates for Fallout New Vegas, Homefront, RF: Armaggedon, Fable III, F1:2010 Dualshock03 (talk) 03:01, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
As For Red Faction: Armaggedon I agree at some point that it will be using LIVE for PC since I saw it at the there community site with the GFWL logo. Somehow they havent officialy announced it on press. As for Crysis 2 and Bulletstorm, you know it will be impossible for this two to be GFWL titles since its being published by EA (Electronic Arts) only a vision will do. Once again pal, careful on the release dates, three of them are TBA 2011. I think it would be better not to put "Q2 2010" somethingDualshock03 (talk) 03:08, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
I realized that some of them weren't after looking into it farther. Crysis 2 and Medal of Honor specifically. I was aware that they weren't going to be LIVE, but I never checked those boxes :D. I believe Bulletstorm has a good chance of being GFW, but I won't mess with it for now. VividNinjaScar (talk) 14:39, 18 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please guys, keep up the clean format of the article.. check on spacing between year titles after you update something.. Why dont you want the "Upcoming Games For Windows titles" caption in the upcoming section?Dualshock03 (talk) 13:02, 14 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well i just read a while ago at the redfaction community forums a thread of using steamworks for the game and another info from this.. http://www.redfactionwiki.com/wiki/Red_Faction:_Armageddon
UPDATE- http://community.redfaction.com/forums/topic/8381 another source for Steamworks confirmation.. read the thread.. Dualshock03
I was unable to find anything on it using Steamworks, aside from user posts. Nothing on a Google search either. I think it is best to assume that it will use GFWL for the time being, since that seems to be the only online service with even a semionfirmation. There is still no Steam logo on the community site either. So far, there is zero reason to believe it will be Steamworks. VividNinjaScar (talk) 08:01, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Mechwarrior reboot I don't know how this was missed. http://www.neoseeker.com/news/11232-mechwarrior-reboot-announced/ says that Mechwarrior is planned to support cross-platform play. It is from former-FASA members who did Shadowrun and only for the 360/PC. That, in addition to still being owned my Microsoft, according to http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/en/us/IntellectualProperty/Trademarks/EN-US.aspx, means it will be a LIVE title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by VividNinjaScar (talkcontribs) 23:12, 22 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Cross-Platform capability column edit

Adding this would be useful to the page, it's already used in a few games and probably will increasse in the future. 86.2.102.248 (talk) 22:14, 22 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think this should be up when their are more numbers in Crossplatform... Up to now their are only 3 Crossplatform games available.. Shadowrun, Lost Planet Extreme Condition: Colonies Edition, and Universe at War: Earth Assault.

Its just a rumor.. nothing else.. This article shouldn't be posting guessing information and titles which doesnt have any citation unless you found a reliable LINKS.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.54.32.99 (talk) 15:28, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

It's already in this article - if a game has cross-platform ability, near LIVE's check is "(Windows and Xbox 360)".

Well we need confirmation first if it will be cross-platform Gfwl2010 (talk) 16:34, 19 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

PC DVD titles Table edit

I wud like to tell anyone that the Games For Windows - LIVE Marketplace has added PC DVD ( NON Games for Windows brand) titles yesterday.. and prior to this article, those NOT Games For Windows/Games For Windows - LIVE titles should have a separate Table List as to what makes it as a temporary for now. In order to avoid confusion and disagreement Dualshock03 (talk) 10:23, 10 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Stop making your own rules. List of Games for Windows titles is no longer just for GFW and GFW LIVE titles. It is also for titles that are not Games for Windows and are available on Games on Demand. Also dualshock please stop with his "Ownership". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.192.147.160 (talk) 14:09, 10 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm not owning rules here.. I just want to make them organized. since putting all those upcoming 100 non GFW games behind GFW/GFWL titles are a mess. Games For Windows is a brand! not literally.. Putting alongside those PC DVD games and old games is not organize to distinguished if that PC game is a GFW/GFWL or not or if that game is using the LIVE service. That will make it screwed for people reading this article.. Read the Title.. "create a SEPARATE TABLE LIST" that's all i want to say.. If don't understand the right situation go to forums.gamesforwindows.com. THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY Dualshock03 (talk) 08:43, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Dualshock you are the one who is not UNDERSTANDING THE SITUATION. Why the heck there must be another article just for Games on Demand would not make any sense. No idea why you are worry about "organized" and "more than 100 title". Look at the Steam article it has over 500 titles and it is still organised. What this article needs is that it need to be renamed so that all Games for Windows, Games for Windows LIVE and Non-LIVE (Games on Demand) titles can be on one article. Has for your "If don't understand the right situation go to forums.gamesforwindows.com" you must go there :). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.192.146.232 (talk) 10:05, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Steam has no official Retail box branding.. I suppose your'e having a mistake. This article pertains only to Games For Windows/ Games For Windows - LIVE branded games which supports features for XBOX 360 controller, The LIVE online service etc.. You dont have to argue with me now since i've already resolved our problem. Argonauts btw is not a games for windows title, see there official website. The box art u saw on it, is a misprint or edited. If your'e still not convinced, buy on shops to see if it is GFW branded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dualshock03 (talkcontribs) 15:31, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I would say that this article should only be listing the Games for Windows titles (and GFWL titles are a subset). We should have another article such as List of Games on Demand titles listing those titles. Then we should remove the Games on Demand column from this page. Just my opinion. --Wean0r (talk) 19:17, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I agree, i think it should be just tied here with a link or something so people would be aware of it. i was trying to create another table below the upcoming titles for this one but got no time yet. If you could start it. Dualshock03 (talk) 03:22, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Pathetic...Terrible..To have two articles one for GFWL and the other for Games on Demand. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.192.146.232 (talk) 09:53, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

You don't know what you are talking about. About putting another article, i was just accepting others opinion. What i want is just to add a separate table HERE in this article.. it was Wean0r suggestion to add another article. READ THIS ARTICLE.. Its a Games For Windows - LIVE branding.. Are those games your putting there certified as GFW/GFWL titles under trademark? NO! theyre not, but theyre there in the marketplace as part of the sales, but MS will not give for those games when relating to GFWL in terms of support. Get it? Games that are only GFWL enabled in the Games on Demand version edit

Dark Void is the first title that isn't GFWL enabled in the retail version, but does have a Games on Demand-only version that IS Live enabled. The current format of the article doesn't reflect this - at present the logical conclusion is that the retail version is GFWL, because the LIVE column has a tick. This needs to be rectified. My solution was to add a note 'G.o.D. only' in the LIVE column but it keeps being removed. I think this is a perfectly reasonable solution, but if anyone thinks otherwise, please post here with your rationale before removing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.96.112.160 (talk) 14:53, 26 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

It isn't required. It also isn't the first game to do this. World of Goo, for example only has LIVE features if it is purchased from the GFWL Marketplace. Specifying that isn't needed in this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by VividNinjaScar (talkcontribs) 10:23, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Its already useless to include that caption. Having the "check" tick doesnt mean its a retail version or not. It strongly specify that its a LIVE title and the GoD column indicates that its available at the GFWL marketplace. Another thing is, its only ruining the column size.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dualshock03 (talkcontribs) 16:52, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

No, it needs to be there somehow. As a consumer looking at this article, I could see just a check there and think its GFWL anywhere. I think its important to say its only live for the GoD version. Yes this applies to World of Goo and Osmos and the others too. And the column size argument is laughable since that is already screwed up by the crossplatform tag. --Wean0r (talk) 17:19, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Actually i included that word a while ago with smaller font like the cross-platform indicator. See if that fits. Like "G.o.D only" smaller font or "G.o.D"/G.O.D. If it not our taste then remove. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.198.78.102 (talk) 02:44, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
Or maybe a footnote using a † or something for those games. The same could be done with the cross platform games using a ‡ --Wean0r (talk) 05:46, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Many people including myself use the page to check if a game is GFWL enabled. For this reason, specifying which version of the game is GFWL is indeed required. There is no reason for it not to be noted there - more information is never a bad thing. It doesn't do anything to the spacing because it's already widened by the '(Windows and Xbox 360)' note. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.96.112.160 (talk) 14:51, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

List of Games for Windows – LIVE titles edit

My Workspace
What do you think about it? Could I create that article? Piotrek54321 (talk) 19:54, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

I like it. Would you want to implement that alone, or with the current article? I think alone would be rather pointless, but at the same time it would make the current one look cluttered. VividNinjaScar (talk) 21:13, 5 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorting by release date edit

The article is divided by years of releasing. So maybe could the games be sorted by release date like in List of Steam games? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Piotrek54321 (talkcontribs) 06:09, 16 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Right now, they are alphabetical in a subsection of the year they were released. If you feel like going through and doing it for all the game, you can, but I think it would be too much work for no improvement. VividNinjaScar (talk) 08:30, 16 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

What happened to this page? edit

It's become a shadow of it's former self. Breaking the information up by release date makes sorting any of the columns useless, gamerscore/achievement information has vanished, pricing is gone, and feature list is gone. It should be more in line with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_Live_Arcade_games which is far more informative and useful as a reference page. JMJimmy (talk) 02:53, 3 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

This article never had gamerscore or features list and others you have mentioned. This is the page you are looking for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Games_for_Windows_%E2%80%93_Live_titles — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.202.27.103 (talk) 13:50, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
