Sourcing needed edit

This list has been tagged for needing sourcing for over a year and the unsourced entries are presently in violation of WP:Source list, to wit "Lists, whether they are embedded lists or stand-alone lists, are encyclopedic content as are paragraphs and articles, and they are equally subject to Wikipedia's content policies such as Verifiability, No original research, Neutral point of view, and others." As an act of good faith I will give it some time before I remove non-sourced entries. I hope invested editors will make an effort to properly source this list in the meantime. Sourcing improvements edit

Just wanted to say that I hugely appreciate the work that's being done to provide sources for the article. That's pretty awesome, though it's regrettable that it had to get to the point of an AFD for that to happen. I'm still not entirely convinced that this wouldn't work better as a category, but in terms of improving the article, this is great.

In any case, I'm willing to self-revert the AFD if we can reach a consensus that beyond a certian point (a month from now? I'm open to suggestions) will be considered fair game for deletion (or potentially moved here). DonIago (talk) 18:43, 29 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Selective removal of unsourced entries edit

While I applaud the effort of removing additions that are unsourced, it seems odd that not all unsourced names are being removed. Why the selectivity? Shouldn't all names without citations be removed?4meter4 (talk) 03:18, 14 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

If you wish to remove unsourced names, you'd be within your rights to remove them. Editors are volunteers and aren't obligated to perform a wholesale cleanup of an article. DonIago (talk) 05:03, 14 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in List of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School alumni edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of List of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School alumni's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "imdb":

  • From Anna Maria Horsford: IMDb.
  • From Omar Epps: "Omar Epps". IMDb. Retrieved 2010-08-29.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 20:35, 4 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Purpose of this list? edit

The list was recently refactored to rely on a single source, the official listing of alumni at the LaGuardia High School website. While this seems sensible, I'm now uncertain as to what the purpose of this list is. Are we simply mirroring content, or is this list intended to focus on notable individuals, and if so, how are we defining notability here?

Thanks for your thoughts. DonIago (talk) 14:54, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

This list allows for links to the people related. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Btrainnyc (talkcontribs) 14:57, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

As did the list in its previous incarnation, so I'm not sure what your point is? External links to the people would be inappropriate, in any case. DonIago (talk) 14:58, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Alumni edit

How do you define alumni? Jim Moody (actor) was a teacher not a student. Mannanan51 (talk) 19:53, 23 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thom Christopher actor. edit

The actor Thom Christopher Christopher also went to the school of performing arts in New York alumni, please could you add his name to the alumni list of actors as Thom Christopher PA. He acted in Buck Rogers, One Life To live, and various theatre productions. Thanking you. 213.205.241.57 (talk) 14:36, 15 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

I don't believe the article is protected. Assuming you have a reliable source confirming that he's an alumni, why not add him yourself? DonIago (talk) 15:11, 15 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Singers are not musicians? edit

I think the "Classical Musicians"/"Classical Singers" dichotomy is offensive. Would there be any issue in changing "Musicians" to "Instrumentalists"? I don't think so, so I've plunged forward and done so, but if you think that's a problem, edit further or let's discuss it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:25, 31 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Indeed, the studio is called "instrumental" (at least it was when I went there in the 80s). I was in "vocal." Both were considered musical studios. I was taught music theory, not just how to sing. Dave Golland (talk) 19:26, 4 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
