Some suggestions for improvement as the article is expanded:

  • Appropriate infobox should be added
  • Photograph should be added from a source with a free license
  • Needs some copy editing
  • Lead needs expanding and should emphasise reasons for notability of subject
  • Complete filmography would be useful
  • References should be expanded and preferably converted to inline format
  • External link present which could be used to expand article

Leather jackets and Ford Capris edit

Bodie always wearing a leather jacket. Popularised leather jackets and Ford Capris in the 80s. Style icons.

Edit: No, "Bodie" wasn't always wearing a leather jacket. Just watch the episodes... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.22.102.74 (talk) 18:59, 2 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Years active edit

It says until present in the box but the latest item is 7 years ago. Is there any more up to date information? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.177.203.235 (talk) 20:01, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

29 November 2013 edit

The death of Lewis Collins has allowed some article expansion, but rehashing large parts of his obituaries has issues with WP:COPYVIO. Also, some of the edits had issues with style and tone, because they lacked the neutral writing style expected from an encyclopedia. The only thing that was specifically removed by me was "In 2002 Collins' life in England reached a crisis when the police raided his home in Chalfont St Peter after his father told them that he was concerned that his son had a small unregistered personal armoury of fire-arms there". Since it is unclear whether he actually did own the firearms, and no criminal charges appear to have been brought, it is not worth mentioning this. Newspapers, particularly tabloids, tend to colour in their stories to make them more appealing to readers, and without mentions of this incident in more reliable sources (none of his obituaries mentioned this, even the extensive ones in the Mail and the Telegraph), it needs to be treated with some caution.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 20:58, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

There is some archive coverage of this here. It says that Collins had not lived at the house for a number of years and was not charged by police. It also suggests that a feud with his estranged father may have been the underlying cause of this incident.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 21:33, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

The Show edit

Don't have an RS, but there's a credit missing, which would be one of Collins' last TV appearances -- as himself, in that strange Bob Mills vehicle The Show on Channel 4 in 1997. It was a rip-off from The Larry Sanders Show, but an inspired one, because it embodied an actual talk show, with Mills as host, and fly-on-the-wall backstage scenes showing the conflict between stars, agents, bookers and producers. I assumed at the time that the backstage scenes were all scripted, but apparently they were real. Collins appeared in I think the first episode and was very charming in the backstage scenes and the studio 'chat show' scenes, and just for style points he wore a 'Bodie' leather jacket.
