Facts About His Adoption Missing

According to Biography.com, Majors didn't find out he had been adopted by relatives until his teenage years, when he found a bundle of newspaper clippings related to his parents' deaths. I also recall reading somewhere that he kept that a secret because he was afraid that his aunt and uncle wouldn't love him the same if they knew that he had discovered the truth. Terrible article

• Though the complete biography of Majors which was recently posted was much appreciated, it needed a great deal of copyediting, some of which I have just done. It still needs a good polish and more than a few tweaks. I'll work on it some more at another time if no one else steps up to the bat. Sir Rhosis 19:51, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

• Two years later, and I (and a couple other editors) are still trying to fix this article. A couple fans, God Bless 'em, for whom English seems to be a second language, continually fill this article with irrelevant asides and anecdotes about Lee's relationship with Richard Anderson, etc., etc. Guys, a couple sentences will do. This article is about Majors, not Anderson, not studio bosses, not about riding bikes for blind children (as noble as that may be). We don't need long, long lists detailing his every hobby. Again, a line or two will do. I ask you, please, not to clutter up this article anymore. Leave it as is, and work on editing and tightening it into an an article we can all be proud of. Birth name/adopted name

The article states that Majors was BORN Harvey Lee Yeary, Jr. Fine, no problem. Except, his father is listed as Carl Yeary. Yes, Major's parents both died soon after his birth, and he was adopted by his uncle Harvey Lee Yeary, Sr.

Is it not more likely that Harvey Lee Yeary, Jr. is Majors' ADOPTED name. You don't normally add a Jr. to the name of someone you are naming after your brother. So what is on his original 1939 fresh-from-the-maternity war birth certificate?

A guess on my part. He was named for his uncle Harvey. When he was adopted by Uncle Harvey, people informally began calling him "Junior" or "Harvey, Junior" to differentiate the two. So, perhaps, the "Jr" is not technically part of his true name. Sir Rhosis 07:55, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

I *think* (but am still looking for reliable sources) that you are right that he was probably named after his uncle Harvey, and people called him "Jr." (either before he was adopted, when he was simply around his uncle, to differentiate, or after he was adopted). http://www.netglimse.com/celebs/pages/lee_majors/index.shtml says his birth name was Harvey Lee Yeary II, not Jr., which would make sense if he was named after an uncle. Riding bikes and other tangents

I removed a long section which tried (I think) to detail Richard Anderson's invovlement in the 6 Mil revivial films. It went nowhere, said little about Majors except that he refused to ride a bike for blind kids in England... or something like that. Sir Rhosis 19:22, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Still needs work and/lack of references is problematic

It's a shame that this article has been tagged as needing references for a long time and no references have ever been added. I stumbled upon this article in the course of looking into some other things and noticed this. Additionally, as has already been stated, the article could use some attention in many areas. No mention of spousal abuse?

I find it shocking that there's not a single mention of his spousal abuse toward Farrah Fawcett in this article. It'd be a bit like having an article on Bobby Brown or Ike Turner without mentioning their abusive behavior. Anyone care to fix this? 68.50.224.118 (talk) 07:41, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Farrah Faucett really was a drug addict who abused majors sentimental and economically , he cared for her , as he could. When he was working out , she was entrusted to his former friend Ryan O'Neal another degenerate drug addict and then moved in together in treason, sticking all the money they could to Majors , however Lee majors always worried about his ex-wife and was eye on her as he could. Reliable source for date of birth

Can anybody find a reliable source for his date of birth? The date I find most commonly online is April 23, 1939, but none of those come from what I'd call a reliable source. SchreiberBike | ⌨  20:30, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
