I appreciate that Okunnu may have a Yoruba name, however, a name itself is not verifiable evidence of any ethnicity or descent. Please read Wikipedia:No original research for more information. As it notes, "The prohibition against OR [original research] means that all material added to articles must be attributable to a reliable published source, even if not actually attributed." As another policy states, "Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it." I understand that some editors are sure that his ethnicity is true, however, unless you can verify that this specific person is Yoruba with outside reliable sources, that fact cannot be included.--TM 11:50, 20 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

I respect your concern on Verifiability. I want to let you know that this reliable source confirm that he is a yoruba descent from Lagos State and am going to include that on the article. Will you consider to add the cat now? Wikigyt@lk to M£ 14:41, 20 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
I've just ping Eruditescholar who placed the subject in that category. Wikigyt@lk to M£ 12:18, 20 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, TM. Irrespective of his Yoruba name (which has not been cited yet), originating from Nigeria gives him a 1/4 chance of having a Yoruba ethnicity or descent. This is coupled with his place of origin Lagos State which is Yorubaland. These are adequate verifiable sources. Which other proof of ethnicity is needed? Why are people from England categorized as English and not French?? Verifiability is used to establish veracity of articles in Wikipedia. I have not only categorized Yoruba-related articles but also other ethnic-related articles such as Igbo people, Black British, Americans where feasible with verifiable sources. etc. Eruditescholar (talk) 15:11, 20 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Being from a town or area does not indicate ethnicity. The other proof of ethnicity needed is a verifiable source indicating that a person is the ethnicity you are claiming that person to be. If no source exists, it cannot be claimed. It's that simple. It is a matter of WP:BLP.--TM 22:14, 20 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
