"a long lasting relationship"

edit

"In 1979, Prince Andrew attended the school for a term as an exchange student from Gordonstoun School, Moray, Scotland, starting a long lasting relationship that continues to this day. "

Unclear if the relationship meant is between Lakefield and Prince Andrew or between Lakefield and Gordonstoun. Can someone check please?

Sexual Abuse

edit

The sexual abuse perpetrated by Father Keith Gleed might be worth mentioning:

How a royal gift exposed sexual abuse at an elite Canadian school

And in German about Christian Kracht as one of the victims:

Prince Andrew

edit

I don't see how Prince Andrew is irrelevant here as compared to other alumni listed.--Mvqr (talk) 12:21, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

I also agreed. Emoorelcs (talk · contribs) could you please explain what is your reasoning? Thank you. SunDawntalk 12:22, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Prince Andrew was listed in the summary at the top of the page; though he is alum, this information shouldn't be included in the brief summary describing the school— Preceding unsigned comment added by Emoorelcs (talkcontribs) 12:28, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

You removed all mention of the prince. I don't see why he shouldn't be mentioned in the summary, he is vary famous alum and patron of the school.--Mvqr (talk) 12:43, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Also, @Emoorelcs: are you involved with Lakefield in some way?--Mvqr (talk) 12:45, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Lakefield has many notable alum that are mentioned in the list near the bottom of the page. There's no reason to list them in the summary, which should focus on the school today and what it offers in terms of programming, amenities, and features.User:Emoorelcs 12:54, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

To the contrary, Wikipedia is not a product brochure. The current amenities and features are of little interest, historical information from reliable sources is of much greater interest here.--Mvqr (talk) 12:56, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Duke of York is no longer a volunteer or patron; he stepped away from all public duties and is no longer associated with Lakefield College School. To be factually accurate, this line should be removed. Please see this page for reference: https://www.royal.uk/the-duke-york (See: "In November 2019, His Royal Highness The Duke of York stepped back from his public duties for the foreseeable future.") - Emoorelcs

It should be included that he was a patron but no longer is as the references are strong and the information is of interest and more newsworthy than most of the rest of the article.VVikingTalkEdits 14:24, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
We could say it stopped in 2019 according to this. Also, How a royal gift exposed sexual abuse at an elite Canadian school (from 2017) may merit more attention in the article.--Mvqr (talk) 14:28, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I like the addition and the information that he stopped in 2019. The Royal gift was suggested above as well. I think it should be included. VVikingTalkEdits 14:38, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
If the Duke of York is left in the summary because of his notoriety, then other notable alum should also be listed in this section as well (i.e. HM Felipe VI of Spain, King of Spain).Emoorelcs (talk) 16:07, 11 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
