  • The name of the article is Laird plc, a company which was acquired by Advent in 2018.
  • The edit request is concerning the purchase of a company called Laird Performance Metals. It's not entirely clear what relationship Laird Performance Metals has/had with Laird plc. The provided reference from DuPont does not speak on this matter.
  • To that end, please provide a reference substantiating the claim that these two differently named companies are/were one in the same.
  • When ready to proceed with the requested information, kindly open a new edit request below this reply post.

Now sorted. Laird Performance Metals was just one of four divisions of Laird plc and it was not the last to be sold. Dormskirk (talk) 08:39, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • What I think should be changed: Add "DuPont took ownership of Laird PLC, and the Laird name and trademark, as part of the purchase."
  • Why it should be changed: To clarify ownership of the Laird name.
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button): [1]

Sorry, but I have read the S&P article several times and I cannot see any mention of the DuPont taking ownership of the Laird name and trademark. It may be implied but per WP:SYNTH we should not combine material from multiple sources to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by any source. • What I think should be changed: Add "DuPont took ownership of Laird PLC, and the Laird name and trademark, as part of the purchase."
  • Why it should be changed: To clarify that DuPont purchased Laird PLC, not Laird Performance Materials. “Laird Performance Materials” is a marketing term created by Laird PLC to refer to a collection of legal entities around the world (i) which Laird PLC owns, and (ii) which make and sell Laird branded performance materials products. By the time DuPont acquired Laird PLC, Laird PLC had divested its other product lines, retaining only its performance materials product lines. So, Laird PLC only owned companies making Laird branded performance materials.

You seem to have provided the same citation which, as explained above, does not make any mention of the DuPont taking ownership of the Laird name and trademark. You need to find a citation which does. Dormskirk (talk) 20:51, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
