Proposed merge of Kitakami River with Kyukitakami River edit

The Kyukitakami River is a bifurcation of the Kitakami River. Consider remaking this page as a category under the Kitakami River. Kazamzam (talk) 15:44, 2 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Kyu kitaitakami river in most part independently drains the western part of prefecture. Many river merges with it such ad Eai and Haza rivers. So merging will be incorrect. If you think readers will be confused, a disambiguation page should be created. Regards, nirmal (talk) 00:36, 3 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Nirmal: If you review the Kitakami River page carefully, you would see the sentence "The river is unusual in that it has two mouths, one flowing south into Ishinomaki Bay and the other flowing east into the Pacific Ocean" in the lead section. This is the Kyukitakami. The fact that other rivers (neither of which have articles about them) merge into a divergence of the Kitakami does not warrant article creation. Rather, it may be better to create a subcategory on the Kitakami River page to consolidate all of the information. Luckily most Wikipedia readers are smart enough to understand a merge of two overlapping topics so I am not worried. Kazamzam (talk) 17:19, 3 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • 1. if that logic is applied, there will be only one river article even for very large watershed, which does not make sense. Branches of river can be notable on their own. There are many examples, which i think you can find by yourself. (2) disambigious pages are created not to judge the smartness of reader, they are there for a reason. Please familiarize yourself by going through WP:D. Regards! nirmal (talk) 01:22, 4 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Closing, given the sustained objection and no support with stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 10:14, 1 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
