Talk:Killing of Abdulrahman al-Awlaki

unless there be objections i will remove the tags in 24hr, if not, please discuss, especially the neutrality tag, i can't tell which direction you think it leans? as to the other tags, perhaps in the future you could simply add a source instead of tagging, which is not the 1st step in improving articles. I'm doing new page patrols and if I stopped to dig up citations for every article w/o citations, I'd never get anything done. I'm just doing this primarily to notify the author of the article to fix it. I put the POV tag on because I'm not sure that he was specifically "targeted" (as opposed to just being one of the people killed during the strike.) He may have been, but w/o sources, no way to know.JoelWhy (talk) 12:37, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
ah ok, ill check out the patrol protocol and see if i can't come up with a better way. ill remove the targeted, i see your point. Darkstar1st (talk) 15:23, 17 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Controversy Section, 2nd paragraph, 2nd sentence starts with "However". The use of however implies an apparent contradiction between the previous statement and the statement that follows "however". There is no contradiction between "we were aiming for someone else" and "he was in the wrong place at the wrong time". ~dres — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.253.7.136 (talk) 05:45, 14 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Spelling of name edit

According to the Colorado birth certificate released by his family, his name is ABDULRAHMAN ANWAR AL-AULAQI. As per the discussion on the talk page at his father's article Talk:Anwar_al-Aulaqi#Spelling_of_Name, this is his legal birth name. Continuing to use the spelling al-Awlaki is inconsistent with the spelling used on Anwar al-Aulaqi so I am being bold and making this change. -Ich (talk) 03:12, 29 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Which statement are you actually disputing? The second or first? Pass a Method talk 21:41, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

For your information, the image actually links to te full story, so your concerns are mute. Pass a Method talk 21:47, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
There are several problems. This source [1] says "When Abdulrahman's death was first reported in the Western press, his age was given as 21 by local Yemeni officials. Afterward, however, the Awlaki family put out a copy of Abdulrahman's birth certificate." So that says it wasn't in response to the officials while the Washington Post article doesn't say the release of the birth certificate was in response to the two officials either, just that they released it on Tuesday. I mentioned that the story as well as the certificate doesn't support the statement in my edit summary of my last revert and on that admin's talk page. Keted6 (talk) 21:54, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
The wording is nonetheless fine since we want to avoid paraphrasing. The "in response" bit has nothing wrong with it. Pass a Method talk 22:59, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure what you mean. The removed statement says the release was in response to the US officials while the sources don't say that. Since it's not due to those officials, it's irrelevant and shouldn't be in the article (or the article of the father). Keted6 (talk) 23:03, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
