To summarize it her new album will be a rock album, and will show a new side of vulnerability that she doesnt show to often. As well as that she will start recording this month.--Jakeriederer (talk) 21:02, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Spandex On the Distant Horizon

I think it's time that Spandex on the distant horizon should get an article. We know its coming in May of 2012, and i have the picture and 3 confirmed songs of the album. Picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/andyroo279/5535465183/lightbox/ Songs: Tease me, 31 seconds alone, Shots on the hood of my car. Idk how to do this myself anyway :( Kalestorm (talk) 02:07, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

That looks like a fanmade cover. If there are no reliable source to state that it's going to exist, then it's not notable and will very likely to be deleted.—Ryulong (竜龙) 02:31, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Deleted the page. WP:CHRYSTAL, recording doesn't start for 2 weeks. Album isnt out till May. That cover is way fake, that's not the title of the album, and she has not recorded a single song for the album she's just finishing up writing. - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 03:04, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Aren't there more songs you didn't mention?-ActerionX (talk) 17:29, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
First, this isn't a forum. Second, all those songs are leftovers from Animal. She did not record a single song from this album until 2 weeks ago. Not a single name title is known. - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 20:17, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

This is a false rumour, The album is not called Spandex on the Distant Horizon and the only possible song that is known to be on it is the stuff she is working with Wayne Coyne, hinted to be called "2012" and a confirmed track called Sex Toy (not confirmed to be on an album), and a rare demo known as "WooHoo" which samples Blur's Song 2.

Source? WP:NOR. Here's my source “The title of my next record will be Spandex on the Distant Horizon.” "2012" is a song for the Lips' album, not Kesha's, this has already been confirmed. - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 22:49, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Isn't WooHoo now BTR's property? Should that be mentioned? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.110.76.152 (talk) 16:57, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

I would like to edit the main picture of Kesha above her biography.

Which album?

The article says: "with Animal debuting as the US's number-one album and producing two number-one singles, "Tik Tok" and "We R Who We R", and a string of top ten hits as well."

If I'm not mistaken, We R Who We R is not on Animal, but Cannibal. Right? 216.114.232.234 (talk) 11:06, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Yes it is on Cannibal, but Cannibal is a re-release of Animal so it counts as one album — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.153.84.59 (talk) 19:37, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

  • Is something missing in this sentence:"Soon after, Kesha signed a multi-album deal with RCA Records through Dr. Luke's imprint, after negotiations with Lava Records and Flo Rida's record label, Atlantic Records as well."--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 05:13, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
    •   Done It's a complete thought, an awkwardly worded one yes. Rewrote for clarity. --Thevampireashlee (talk) 07:57, 13 September 2012 (UTC)
      • The sentence continues to have two main problems:
        1. It begins with "Soon after". This is not only the first sentence of a paragraph, but also the first sentence of a section. As a result, if soon after is a referent to a prior paragraph and section, it must be reworded. It seems to mean soon after the stuff in the last section. This is not proper sentence construction for the first sentence of a section.
        2. The part beginning with "after negotiations with Lava Records" seems to be run on or something because it is not referring to the subject prior to the comma. I.e., Dr. Luke's imprint is not being modified by the after negotiations stuff. You need to either rearrange or make this a separate sentence that is a complete thought.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 13:21, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct.
1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation.
2. Verifiable with no original research:
2a. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline.
2b. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose). Two citations remain at issue.
2c. it contains no original research.
3. Broad in its coverage:
3a. it addresses the main aspects of the topic.
3b. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
  4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.
  5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:

New images

Professional photographer Becky Sullivan snapped various images of Kesha at her Today Show performance of "Die Young". I uploaded two of the best ones (in my opinion), but there are at least a dozen in all. If anyone is interested, take a look through them and pick a better one. The watermark needs to be cropped out, but since the image is cc-by-sa 2.0 we can do that. Here they are: https://secure.flickr.com/photos/becky-sullivan/sets/72157632063139488/with/8203661679/ --Thevampireashlee (talk) 21:43, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

I believe the one of the photos with her kneeling down or with the guitar would be best for the infobox. Whatever318 (talk) 23:28, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
I disagree. I think the chosen "headshot" is more appropriate. The other pics are good, but the pic User:Thevampireashlee chose for the infobox is the most appropriate, in my opinion (despite my efforts to wreck it...) . Begoontalk 00:47, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
Well I believe a "larger" pic is a better fit for an infobox. Whatever318 (talk) 02:01, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
When you say "larger", I assume you're not referring to size. If I'm following you, you mean a shot that shows her performing, with more of the body, and not just the head? There's an argument for that - but which one would you choose, bearing in mind you may need to crop the shot? Because she's performing, the facial expressions can seem a little "odd" in some of those shots, or the face obscured by hair/microphone stand in some. Can you be more specific about which shot you prefer? this one isn't bad - but the bystanders and placard may look a little odd once it's cropped, and there would need to be at least some cropping to remove the watermark. Actually, now you've made me look at them again, I think this one is another nice face shot (if cropped) - but that doesn't help if you want something showing "more" Begoontalk 02:46, 26 November 2012 (UTC)
I think either this one or this one would be the best fit. Whatever318 (talk) 02:54, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

Ha, well that first one was the one I just played with - see File:Kesha Today Show Kneeling.jpg. It could be more closely cropped to "upper body" which would lose some of the distracting background, but also lose the "pose", and would chop off her hands, which spoils it a bit. Begoontalk 03:02, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

In the second one, the smartphone at bottom right means you'd need to "slice" through the guitar - which might be ok, I suppose (or leave the phone in). If you don't crop out the left part of the image and focus on her a bit more, though, she'll be very small at infobox size - and if you do crop it, you cut through her arm, and lose the point of the pointing "pose". Here's a rough crop: File:Kesha Today Show Pointing.jpg Begoontalk 03:06, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

You could also look through the pics in this old revision of the article: [2]. An editor added, then removed that gallery. I think he was right to remove it (per Wikipedia:Image_use_policy#Image_galleries) - but maybe it helps in this discussion? [disclaimer: I haven't checked the licensing of any of those pics] - Begoontalk 05:31, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

I definitely believe both of those images are acceptable. Whatever318 (talk) 00:33, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
Before replacing the current infobox image, please discuss it here. I believe, as it seems others here have agreed, that this image is best for the infobox because it is a full image of her smiling face that faces towards the text, encouraging the eye to move towards the article body. I do not think the other pictures from this shoot are superior. Especially not this one and this one because her body is either partially obscured by an object in the foreground, the angle is awkward, or her posture is awkward. Her facial expressions are also unflattering. And no offense to her, but make her look like she has a mental disorder or something. --Thevampireashlee (talk) 05:51, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
Um, only one person agreed so I don't think that's consensus really, and I'm kinda surprised since I find this one to be actually a great image of her. Whatever318 (talk) 23:52, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

What exactly did you want to see changed in the article? Billboard joked that Kesha was in the Illuminati because of her "Die Young" music video; otherwise, no reliable sources exist on the topic. Plus, the topic is considered pseudo-science and is therefore not worthy of a mention. However, I'm sure you would find articles about this topic at Vigilant Citizen.com. LGBT categories

I've removed this article from the categories Bisexual musicians, Bisexual women, LGBT musicians from the United States, and LGBT rappers as Kesha's sexuality is rather ambiguous. There is in fact no mention of it in the body of the article nor has there been adequate discussion on the talk page (besides a small conversation back in 2010). In 2013, she said "I don't love just men. I love people. It's not about a gender" ([3]); this is not self-identification as LGBT, and in 2010 she even said "I wouldn't say I’m gay or straight -– I don’t like labeling things anyway", which is all the more reason to exclude her from these categories. Headlines proclaiming Kesha as bisexual are just the product of a little sensationalism by the authors, because if you read them you'll find indefinite quotes such as the ones I just posted.

I do however think the article should still remain within the WikiProject LGBT studies scope as she has a recognizable presence in regards to LGBT topics. Scarce2 (talk) 00:08, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

Agree with Thevampireashlee. She released it last week... and it was really successful... Hmmm... Success in a week - if only... I could be a billionaire by last Wednesday...
Seriously though, I'm sure she has ways of publicising her jewellery lines that don't need us to help. If it became a major part of her business career, and we had lots of sources commenting on it, then, sure, it should be mentioned, but we don't need to include it in an encyclopedia article on the performer just because it happened. You might see WP:NOTNEWS and WP:PROMO too. Begoontalk 17:01, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

Missing EP

In the page it has Ke$has Albums (Animal, and Warrior) but does not have her EP Cannibal. If someone could add that to the page it would be much appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.35.46.169 (talk) 01:18, 26 July 2013 (UTC)

That's just a short section that links to Kesha discography, and it links just her full albums for convenience.
There's a full article: Cannibal (EP) about the EP, and that's even classified as a Wikipedia Good Article, and it's linked from Kesha discography.
I think that's probably fine as it is. If more regular editors of the article think it's worth adding a specific link to the EP, then fine, but for me it's pretty well covered, it might seem a bit unwieldy and duplicative if we linked to all singles/EPs too, when the already linked discography article does just that. Edit request for summary

I'm not sure what the correct way to fix this is, but the second paragraph of the summary at the top of the page says, "Kesha primarily draws inspiration from music of the 1980s; Madonna, Queen, and Beck have been cited as instrumental to her artistry." However, Beck is clearly a 90's artist -- his first major release, Mellow Gold was in 1993 and most of his big albums are from the late 1990s and earlier 2000's. I'm not entirely sure what should be done with the quote, though.76.14.86.195 (talk) 08:22, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Actually, that's a good point. Structurally, that could do with fixing somehow. I don't have a solution straight off the top of my head that isn't clumsy, but since there's been no reply to this in a while I guess a little more time won't hurt.  Perhaps someone else can think of a clever, erudite way to rephrase it before my slow old brain clunks around to it? I'll hope to think of something soon if no other editor does.
Changing the semi-colon to a full stop would be, of course, an obvious 'cop-out' 'band-aid' which makes the second statement less stridently connected to the first, but I'd like to do better than that  .Begoontalk 19:20, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

If someone could remove the Lip$ha page, add the Pitbull part, and the jewelry information that would be Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the help page).great. NEW Pic

I think there should be a newer pic of kesha for the page picture. This one could be good, http://i1.cdnds.net/13/21/618x491/showbiz-kesha.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.30.188.116 (talk) 17:12, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Edit Request - September 2013

If someone would add her back to the category "Category:LGBT rappers", that would be great. Also, she should be added to the categories "Category:LGBT Christians" and "Category:American Christians". 71.191.95.5 (talk) 17:27, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Still waiting on any/all of these requests.

I actually think the statement about her as "openly bisexual" should be removed since there appear to be a few issues with it. The only source I have for this is a statement in Seventeen magazine where she responded to a question about her sexuality with “I love people. It’s not about a gender. It’s just about the spirit that exudes from that other person you’re with.” There is also a tabloid story about her "dirty dancing" with a girl at a gay bar and a very ambiguous quote where she said "I'm looking for a boyfriend or girlfriend" while performing at an LGBT concert (any of these can be Googled and run down). To the contrary, there is a wealth of evidence that she predominantly (as far as I can tell exclusively) dates men, and speaks openly and descriptively about her hetero-sexual orientation and romantic history in interviews and song lyrics. In the spirit of her desire not to label people and the lack of (in my opinion) credible evidence here, shall we avoid applying this "label" to her? And perhaps, if deemed necessary, replace this with a more restrained interpretation of her response in the Seventeen magazine interview.

I see it as a disservice to LGBT activism (and feminism) that its most vocal supporters need to be labeled as "bisexual," especially in Kesha's case where the sources identifying her as such come of as sloppy and/or opportunistic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.228.129.194 (talk) 17:29, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

In Ke$ha's background information box and under her list of instruments, 'theremin' is incorrectly spelt as 'theramin'. 90.198.114.28 (talk) 20:23, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Kesha's manager from 2006-____ was David Sonenberg

David Sonenberg of DAS Communications was pop singer Kesha's manager. He sued her in 2010 for $14 million. Kesha counter-sued Sonenberg, saying he is an illegal (unlicensed) talent agent. They later settled their lawsuits.[1][2][3][4][5][6] After Kesha was admitted to a rehab in January 2014, her mother Rosemary "Pebe" Sebert publicly accused Sonenberg of strongly encouraging Kesha to engage in bulimic behavior.[7] 207.239.120.10 (talk) 04:12, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

David Sonenberg

In an interview with People Magazine, Kesha's mother Rosemary said that Kesha's former manager David Sonenberg of DAS Communications yelled at Kesha to throw up and do drugs. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20777153,00.html

Lead image

I have to argue, File:Ke$ha Today Show 2012.jpg has much higher quality, with little to know obstructions and Kesha is much more identifiable than the present lead image. What do you guys think?--GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 13:52, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

It was present for a certain time I believe, and it definitely looks good. —Indian:BIO · [ ChitChat ] 04:53, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
So shouldn't it be reverted then? KeDollarsignHa (talk) 19:51, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Name

formerly stylized as Ke$ha

Does this mean what is stated, that she used to by stylised as "Ke$ha", or was it intended to say that she is "formally stylised as Ke$ha" (that is, that she is officially stylised in that form)? Skinsmoke (talk) 20:48, 7 May 2014 (UTC)

"Formerly." She used the dollar sign until rehab and no longer uses it. —Gendralman (talk) 23:05, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Updates and Needed Fixes

It should be noted properly that Kesha will be joining the panel of Rising Star (as an "expert", not a judge as their influences will not affect the show's outcome, is dating Brad Ashenfelter and is reportedly working with Zedd (there are plenty of online sources). Kesha's promo image for Rising Star says that she has now sold 59 million records worldwide http://www.mtv.com/news/1835837/kesha-new-logo-rising-star/ . Also, the image for this article, while is a change, isn't as suitable as a lead image as the one prior to this as they were from the EXACT same time and place, and is a much clearer, nicer face-shot. A new, free image is bound to come up soon anyway, so until then, we should revert to that one. 81.107.103.92 (talk) 18:06, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Infobox change

I'm not so sure that I agree with this edit by Chasewc91. Kesha is pretty much a muscial artist and nothing else: any acting and talent show roles she's held are trivial in comparison to her musical career. Infobox musical artist seems like the most appropriate infobox for this article. Acalamari 08:14, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

The infobox should cover everything, including minor things. However, the genre "synthpop" is too narrow, other genres should also be included, especially pop, dances and electronica — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.107.103.92 (talk) 18:09, 7 June 2014

Sorry for just now replying here Acalamari; I didn't see this discussion. I think that since the musical artist infobox can be added as a module to the main person infobox that it's unnecessary to only include a more restrictive infobox that provides less info. That's how I feel about any musical solo artist, regardless of how notable for what they are outside of music. The additional listings in the person infobox are also helpful; for instance, we can link to her mother who is notable, and more easily distinguish that she's from Nashville with a "home town" field instead of a more dubious "origin" one.

And 81.107.103.92, synthpop is currently the only musical genre that is cited for Kesha in the body of the article. If you know of any sources that describe her as a dance or electronica artist (though I doubt you will find any for the latter as the term generally doesn't apply to dance-pop singers), feel free to list them here and they can be added to the article/infobox. –Chase (talk / contribs) 00:01, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

Please change German to Polish in the line below. The article that is a reference for this line is in Polish, and Kesha says that she is part Polish and that her great grandmother lived in Poland while under Russia rule. No mention of German. Other articles have mentioned her father maybe of German descent.

Her mother is of half German and half Hungarian descent (with her Hungarian side from Szentes).[8]

Nanusia0973

Partly done: I've added a sentence saying that she is of Polish descent, and placed a {{citation needed}} tag after the sentence saying that her mother is half German, half Hungarian. —Mr. Granger (talk · contribs) 14:25, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
