Dropped Dated prod Flag

I summarily deleted the dated prod flag placed on the article by another Wikipedian. It is absurd to consider this author "non-notable". He has nine published books. Here are some details on his known and best-selling one, "Boston's Gun Bible":

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #2,285 in Books (That is out of the nearly 4 million titles that Amazon lists.) Popular in these categories:

1. Number 1 in Books > Professional & Technical > Law > Criminal Law > Law Enforcement
2. Number 1 in Books > Professional & Technical > Engineering > Materials > Metallurgy
3. Number 1 in Books > Nonfiction > Law > Criminal Law

That book has more than 100 reviews filed on Amazon, yet still has a 5 star rating, which almost unheard of.

I have no idea whatsoever why someone would consider Boston T. Party (aka Kenneth Royce) non-notable! Trasel (talk) 21:56, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Notability

The prod on this article was removed stating thet Removed dated prod flag for goodness sake, this guy has 8 published books and a is a key player in the Free State Project. His book Boston's Gun Bible has a 5 star rating on Amazon. There is little indication that the Free State Project is notable (As of April 17, 2009, there are 9235 members, of which 701 have already moved to New Hampshire.), and even if it is, then Kenneth W. Royce should be mentioned there, not in a separate article. Mere publication of books is not a criteria for notability. Look at the article, no effort has been made to source it at all! I can understand that some editors agree philosophically with Kenneth W. Royce, but that doesn't make him notable. Look at the guidelines at WP:BIO. --Bejnar (talk) 18:22, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Publication of books is not a reason for notability, of course. A noted author of numerous notable books, however, for an author that has written numerous books that have maintained continuus high ratings on Amazon, etc., while additionally involving writing updated versions of multiple editions of his books over many years, each of which have been well received and which have had high ratings, for books that additionally have remained continously in print (i.e., Boston's Gun Bible) over many years -- these are all definite indications of an author's notability and the importance of the author's body of work. This article is clearly deserving of being kept. Lack of sources is not a major problem; it merely indicates that they need to be added. Yaf (talk) 05:15, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

The subject is absolutely notable, very highly respected and well known in the gun culture community and in the survivalist community. He travels and lectures frequently at gun shows, freedom forums, and even Rotary Clubs: http://www.durangotelegraph.com/05-01-13/local_news.htm

Kenneth Royce/Boston T. Party books are sold far and wide (many are sold at gun shows, which will not show up in Amazon ranks, and his Amazon ranks are respectable regardless). Boston T. Party is cited as an expert by other gun and survivalist writers in their books.

The subject of the article doesn't seem as "notable" as other people who are as notable, because he's not on the Internet that much. He's a huge advocate of privacy, writes books about keeping information about one's self OFF the Internet. He's more known "out in the world" than on the Internet.

But, that said, both names used by the subject (Kenneth W. Royce, and Boston T. Party) pass the Google test both in number of hits, and in notability of some of the hits. The article could absolutely use better sourcing, but is not a candidate for deletion under Wikipedia guidelines. ElizaBarrington (talk) 07:03, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
