The right name?

edit

I am currently sitting in Tian Jin, China. I have just come from a market here in which the root was repeatedly refered to as 山萘 (Shan Nai) So in that sense the article seems to be misleading because it says that the name of the entire plant is 山萘 (Shan Nai, while the name of the root is 沙姜 (Sha Jiang).

Baidu also lists these alternate names:三萘子、三赖、山辣,san nai zi, san lai, and shan la, respectively. You see that the businessman above posted the name 三萘, san nai.

What should the standard here be? Whose name is right? I have no idea. Some Asian market in San Francisco? A Chinese market in Beijing? Is it too much to list all 4 names in Baidu? But then, where does that stop? I am absolutely certain if we start poking around we could find several other common Chinese names for this plant.

Or we could do what Americans have done for a hundred years or so and just use the Japanese name! Easy! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 111.164.241.157 (talk) 10:10, 9 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

A resurrection lily

The above dab page refers to this entry. Is that name actually applied to this plant? If so, why? and should it be capitalized? DCDuring (talk) 12:31, 20 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
