The result of the move request was: Actually, wait, if the only reason this was sent to RM rather than done boldly is because it involved overwriting the DAB, that's fine. I'll just histmerge them. It should be moved to its properly capitalized name at K-12 education in the United States, where a disambiguation page already exists. Overwriting the DAB page is potentially controversial, so I am starting a move request here. Yeeno (talk) 00:32, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

Article title punctuation

I noticed that the article on the K12 abbreviation uses an en dash between K and 12, which seems to fit the Wikipedia manual of style, while this article uses an hyphen. Should this article's title be changed to use "K–12"? 2600:6C4A:5E7F:F05C:C045:8080:238F:DFB6 (talk) 16:12, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

– In these titles, "K-12" or "K-8" is a range from kindergarten (K) to twelfth grade or eighth grade. A range should be expressed with a dash, not a hyphen (MOS:RANGES, MOS:NUMRANGE). • Support the primary move. No reason for it not to follow MOS. I oppose the others, though, unless it can be shown that the schools themselves are using endashes in their names. We should follow the punctuation that the schools themselves use. Bensci54 (talk) 15:30, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

Many people don't notice the difference between a hyphen and a dash (and there's no difference in ASCII), but Wikipedia does. We should go by the meaning. Wikipedia's guidelines on the matter don't say to imitate sources. —⁠ ⁠BarrelProof (talk) 17:29, 14 November 2023 (UTC)

Common sense says you should avoid characters not found on a standard keyboard. The disconnect between common sense and slavish devotion to all things Wikipedia becomes more and more obvious as the days go by. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 08:45, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

Redirects would presumably remain for those who are unaware of the distinction or who have difficulty typing a dash. This issue is specifically addressed in the first bullet of the instructions at WP:TSC. —⁠ ⁠BarrelProof (talk) 09:03, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
