I have moved the grading down from B to C class. The article contains a significant amount of dubious unsourced material. It needs trimming of trivia and original research and needs secure sourcing - as it stands the article is more opinion than fact, contains irrelevant material, and is not as helpful to the general reader as it could be. So does anybody know where the Epitaph logo comes from? Is it an original Judas Priest symbol or what? 

Ψ It's kinda like this symbol but does not curve outwards toward the end.

Question on those who knew of Halford's homosexuality before 1998

"In a 1998 interview on MTV, Halford also revealed his homosexuality, but it came as little surprise to fans and to Halford's bandmates, who had previously known and been supportive yet were reluctant to let him come out in previous years to protect the image of him and the band."

Now, bandmates, that makes sense. Rob Halford worked closely with these people for over 20 years so they were bound to realise at some stage that he was gay. But fans? This part particularly stands out to me because...if the fans already knew, then surely it would have already been public knowledge? And if it was public knowledge, why would he have needed to reveal it publically? Who was there left to "reveal" it to?

I can see there may be some fan exceptions - such as a minority of people who went to Priest concerts and got to meet Halford and he just let it slip out during conversation, but somehow I doubt all of his fans knew. Priest have always been quite a well-known influential rock/metal band and I don't see how it could have been private knowledge if all of their fans were in the know. Maybe I'm just looking too much into it, but it would be nice to have some clarification on what it means, or a source to prove that fans were indeed aware of his homosexuality before 1998.Vicious Friendly Fish (talk) 13:07, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

I've edited that section to make a plain statement and provide the source for the interview. The source says no such thing, other than that fans had "speculated" for years, but I don't think we even need to mention that. I have noticed quite a bit of claims in this article that need to be cited. For example, when referring to Unleashed in the East, "By this point the playing style of the band had grown progressively heavier, with live versions of songs such as 'Exciter' and 'Beyond the Realms of Death' sounding much heavier than their studio counterparts." This looks to be WP:OR and should either be sourced or deleted. A couple of other examples, "Rocka Rolla has been for the most part dismissed by the band [no sources to back this statement up] and none of its songs were played live after 1976 [again, no sources] except for Never Satisfied, which was revived during the Epitaph Tour in 2011." Another example: "This album and a strong performance [according to whom?] at the 1975 Reading Festival helped to raise wider interest in the band and expand their fanbase [how?]." Clearly these issues need to be addressed, which is why I have brought this notice up. Please find sources or delete. Thank you! Johnny338 (talk) 22:10, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

The lead paragraph indicates that they “struggled” at a point in their career, which turned around in 1980; however the main text has them enjoying at least low-level success all the time, including being taken up by a major label in 1977, and a record release heralding a string of gold albums, with a major revival starting in 1979… Jock123 (talk) 15:07, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

Origin: Any evidence?

The article states in multiple places that the band formed in Birmingham. Does anyone have evidence to support this? @Music2247: I'll give you some useful advice. When you encounter resistence in the form of multiple editors reverting several of your edits for a variety of reasons, you should take everyone's advice and familiarize yourself with the rules and guidelines, and then choose discussion over edit warring. You are perilously close to losing your editing privileges right now. Wikipedia doesn't care about opinions, it cares about verifiability. But be stubborn and find out the hard way if that's your choice. You may be right in your arguments, you may be wrong, that's why discussion is preferred over edit warring. One course of action might help you get your edits approved, but the other definitly won't. SolarFlash (talk) 20:31, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
Just a followup on this: User Music2247 was subsequently banned for edit warring and socking. He was still here editing anonymously as Special:Contributions/24.127.236.115 until the IP was also blacked, and he's also still active as X-ma998. Be on the lookout, there may be also more socks. "Rock and Roll" Hall of Fame

Regarding this, in the first paragraph "Judas Priest has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2020 class." Should we modify now that the band has officially been snubbed by the so-called R&RHOF? I'm too angry to do it right now, but if you can do it and remain objective then please do so.
