Jonas Kaufmann is a young Heldentenor. Although his Italian is very strong, he has far too dark a tone to be classified as a lirico-spinto. —Preceding unsigned comment added by NicRhind (talkcontribs) 01:26, 2 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Re: surgery

edit

I was advised by the Science reference desk that tumor covered the "node in chest". Apologies if we got it wrong. Please see discussion here almost-instinct 14:31, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

The discussion is very interesting, and it's commendable of you to look into it, but we simply can't imply it was a tumor (by the wikilink) without a source that says it was a tumor.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:34, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
I agree. Incidentally, I've replaced one of the sources for this with a far more reliable and more detailed one from the New York Times. Norman Lebrecht's blog, "Slipped Disc", is notorious for its factual errors and the entries are often sourced from other blogs. I'd never use it as a reference, let alone for something like this. I'll just jump in here to verify for you guys that the original Japanese in the letter in one of those links does actually say 'lymph node'. See the discussion on the Science desk for details. If you need any further clarification, please feel free to contact me on my talk page. --KägeTorä - (影虎) (TALK) 17:56, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
The article was updated with a cite to that source. And thanks to Voceditenore for getting the NYT source. I'm going to make one change to correct the month of surgery, which appears to be August, not September, based on the NYT article. That was my error as I misunderstood Kaufmann's statement on his website.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:08, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
You were right the first time. ;-) The NYT quotes Kaufmann re surgery: "it will take place after my appearance in Stockholm on Sept. 2". I changed it back. Voceditenore (talk) 18:22, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) Voce properly reverted my edit because the surgery was planned for September 2. I read the first part of the NYT article, which, to me, indicated that the surgery had taken place two months before October 30 (thus August) but hadn't noticed the quote from Kaufmann lower down. A comedy of my errors. Sigh.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:23, 20 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Listing of future events

I see this page mentions the artist's forthcoming performances. Is such information allowable on an encyclopaedia?Albrighton Titon (talk) 10:03, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

If it's a significant event and supported by reputable sources, that might be permissible. His forthcoming Alvaro at the ROH doesn't fall into that category and ought to be removed. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 10:28, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the advice@Michael Bednarek:. I have implemented it accordingly and will check similar pages to see if this behavior is trending.Albrighton Titon (talk) 14:35, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
