John Mcdermott vs David Price
editJohn Mcdermott was beaten easily by the up and coming prospect David Price on the 21st of January 2012. Mcdermott, who coming into the fight had 33 fights with 7 losses came out trying to throw the jab and was floored within the first 30 seconds of the fight. Mcdermott who repeatedly got up was lashed back down for a third time with the ultimate defeating blow inflicted by a well executed right hand combination. The fight ended after only 73 seconds and Mcdermott after the fight seemed uncertain over his professional future and said, "I'm gutted, I'll take a few days to think about my future. I don't want to be a journeyman." At the weigh in, Mcdermott came in at 271 pounds, which at the time was the heaviest weight he had ever fought at. The fight was the final eliminator for the British title and the winner was guaranteed a shot at Tyson Fury whom Mcdermott had lost to previously. David Price, after the fight said,"Exactly what I needed, but I did'nt expect to take John Mcdermott out like that. It was an absolute peach of an uppercut that put him down."
