According to the Oxford dictionary of National Biography, "Roger, fifth Baron Clifford (1333–1389), magnate, was born at Brougham Castle in Westmorland on 20 July 1333", and as a variant , "Clifford, Thomas, first Baron Clifford of Chudleigh (1630–1673), ".
