"Adams shares her hometown with another Hollywood actress, Mary Steenburgen." -- Honestly, is this relevant? I mean, maybe if it's some incredibly tiny town in the middle of nowhere, where it would be unusal for even one famous person to originate from, let alone two, it might be relevant. Furthermore, it's placement within the article, right before the section addressing her sexuality, at first made me think that she shared her home with another Hollywood actress, and not her hometown.

I'm going to have to remove it, because she has stated it's a rumor, and completely unfounded. Now I don't want to be unfair to anybody here, but the truth is the truth, whatever that may be. As long as there's a cited source to the refuting of the rumor (which there is), that's fine by me. However I noticed (I haven't been to this article for awhile) that it no longer says Chasing Amy was based upon Smith's relationship with Adams, which seems to contradict the DVD release. In fact there's no reference to Smith and Adams having a relationship of any kind ... has this also been refuted? 23skidoo 16:39, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

Did anyone actually read the article cited there? This is the Adams quote from it: "In her early 20s, Adams herself says, "I'm bisexual, and I realized that when I went to Bali where the culture there is very bisexual, and it is the first time I was very attracted to women. I have a lot of friends who are [that way]; in fact, most."

Hey JenW, I see you're now adding innacurate and misleading information to the Joey Lauren Adams article in yet another attempt to impose your opinions on others. The matter of her sexuality has been discussed here (above) and it was agreed to include both quotes. As I've pointed out to you many times before, the "I'm bisexual" quote was taken from a planetout out article(not interview) which [reported] it from an unknown source. The recent quote came from an actual interview with suicidegirls.com in which she herself [stated] "it's a rumor". nonsense. If they are both to be treated as her quotes, they are both from "interviews" - what else would they be. Mike Szymanski (Planet out) chases everyone in bi-related films, TV, book. He has written columns for a long time, contributes to LA Times, wrote "The Bisexual's Guide to the Universe". Some people say one thing at one time, another thing at another time. It is interesting to know who they are. Why not send Mike a message on myspace http://www.myspace.com/bisexualsguide perhaps he will enlighten us all. Perhaps the planetout quote will crumble. That's not true, the original source is unknown therefore it could have been taken from anywhere or anyone. "In her early 20's..." you can't get any more vague than that. The only source we have to go on is the planet out [article]. Now you've gone from adding inaccurate information to removing ACCURATE information. You are intentionally compromising the integrity of this article. Please do not remove the source of those two quotes (planetout, suicide girls). I'm not a member of myspace. Ask him yourself, maybe he can provide the original source and we can put this issue to rest. I have not removed sources - they are there when you click on the links. I rewrote to avoid your slant on them in favor of suicidegirls. She didn't write either article so both are "reported" - because one is presented as an unmediated interview does not change that. You seem to think if you shout it loud enough what you believe will become true. The article has more integrity without your attempts at spin. You found none of the sources, you are unwillingly to follow them up. It seems you are more interested in petulantly having it your way than making a positive contribution. I find it amusing that you're accusing me of doing exactly what you're guilty of. You rewrote the article to avoid my slant? I hadn't even touched this article until you started forcing YOUR own spin. Her name was on a list of bisexual celebrities, I pointed out the fact she recently stated it was untrue, you refused to allow the changes, and that's when you started editing this article in an attempt to muddy the facts. First, you added inaccurate information, then you removed key information from the article(the source of the quotes). 'I' haven't found any sources which contain the older source? Neither have you, nor has anyone else and that's precisely my point. You can't suggest the two sources carry the same weight. The "I'm bisexual quote was taken from an unknown source. The recent quote was taken directly from an interview with Joey Lauren Adams in which she clearly states "It's untrue". You should not be editing articles on wikipedia if you're unable to remain neutral. The only thing I care about is maintaining the integrity of this article. I think that this issue should be addressed because it relates specifically to the issue that her relationship with Smith "provided the inspiration" for Chasing Amy. Since the film is about a straight guy who falls in love with a lesbian, by not addressing this issue it leads to an inference that she is a lesbian. ( Though it might simply be that she inspired the Silent Bob "your chasing Amy" thing. I don't care. By not addressing this issue it makes it seem like she is a lesbian. Even a simple, "she says it is none of anyone's bussiness" would suffice. ( Though I do find it amusing in the quotes above that she refers to the rumors as "Unfounded" i.e, without proof, foundation etc, rather than false.) 75.191.151.75 (talk) 06:35, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

If she was "born 1968-01-09 in North Little Rock, Arkansas, USA," then why is there a cross-reference at the bottom of the page to "1971 births"? -DerbertBeak 23:34, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Interesting. I did a Google search and found an almost equal number of pages given both dates -- in fact the Wikimirror Answers.com gives BOTH dates for some reason. And some pages say her birthday is on Jan. 6, not 9. I could find no official site to confirm either date, so it might be necessary to put both in the rticle. Both dates should be mentioned, otherwise someone might just think the information is missing and add it from the first source they say, whether it be 1968 or 1971. 23skidoo 22:39, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
