In the quote below, it seems initially that Jnanadanandini appoints a nurse because she wants somebody do look after her children. But then in the last sentence it seems she resents leaving them with a nurse. In either case, the wording of her husband's wishes is convoluted and difficult to untangle! (a double negative?): "In yet another undaunted act of courage, Jnanadanandini appointed a Muslim woman as wet nurse for her children. Leaving newborns to the care of a wet nurse or governess of a Hindu caste was common practice in affluent Indian families of the day.
