Again, Wikipedia takes it upon itself to change the name of a married woman to put her family surname before her married surname while no other source refers to her as Jane Wilde Hawking. NorthernThunder (talk) 23:32, 13 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

I agree that with the thrust of that comment . Shouldn't it be changed? The other point is that there is no evidence that she is a "Professor of Romance Languages" anywhere. In the UK professor is not just a title given to anyone who teaches at a university. Neilj (talk) 11:12, 20 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

I think the name is correct. She was born as Jane Wilde and she is not married to Hawking anymore, but Hawking is the name she is famous for, not her second husband's name. and there is a reference for her teaching romance languages in the UK. Yes-But: she's not a professor as commonly understood in the Commonwealth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 106.68.85.125 (talk) 14:41, 29 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Should it not be Jane Beryl Wilde Hawking Jones in the lead? She is obviously best known as Jane Hawkings in source material, but the correct order would put her family name first.--Metallurgist (talk) 18:16, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Her First Husband

edit

Curious why the page mentions her [first] husband, instead of just saying Hawking. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8084:D020:3F00:A14A:1696:FE16:E4E4 (talk) 20:45, 5 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I think it's just to avoid too many repetitions of "Hawking" in the article. JezGrove (talk) 20:50, 5 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
