Old talk
editSorry if my recent contributions create the impression that I'm a nit picker. However, I do intend to add content to the entry soon and hope that a group of us can work together. Mikeo1938 06:17, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Population of Hyères
editI am confused about the population of Hyères, excluding that of La Crau.
According to the entry in the English version of Wikipedia, it is 51,417 (1999 census). The figure in the French version is given as 50,789 (no source given) and again as 52,500 (1999 census). The official website of Hyères gives a figure of 53,258 (1999 census) The latter figure of 53,258 is repeated at http://www.provenceweb.fr/f/var/hyeres/hyeres.htm
What is the correct figure?Mikeo1938 21:58, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
OK, the penny has dropped. The 53,258 on the town's website must include people (servicemen etc) who are also included elsewhere as residents of other towns. The figure of 52,500 excludes these persons. Mikeo1938 13:51, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Layout
editI suppose the Info Box which I've added should go to the top right corner; the picture of the Place Massillon might ideally go between the table of contents and the Info Box. However, I'm not sure how to do this. Could someone pse help? Mikeo1938 13:56, 14 August 2007 (UTC) OK, I've done it. Mikeo1938
Operation Dragoon
editVMT to LeadSongDog for drawing attention to the landings on the islands of Hyères. It would be good to increase the scope of the section about the town during WW2. Mikeo1938 16:30, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Massiliotes or Massaliotes?
