Huazhou, GuangdongHuazhou – Per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. The other 2 Huazhou's no longer exist. Timmyshin (talk) 04:03, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. It's completely irrelevant whether they still exist or not. No clear primary topic here. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:32, 2 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • What's yours for apparently claiming that things are only notable if they still exist? -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:24, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • I'm not claiming that the historical prefectures are no longer notable considering I was the one who created those 2 pages. They are just less notable than the current city for practical reasons, since you will only encounter the historical prefectures if you are really into Chinese history. The modern city of 1.5 million of course will be encountered in all facets of life, news, traveling, etc. Timmyshin (talk) 11:25, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • But it isn't particularly well-known outside China. Most people will never have heard of it. So, given this is the English-language Wikipedia, I don't think it can be considered a primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:43, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • There are about 5 million topics on English-language Wikipedia. Most people will never heard of 99.99% of them. Are you saying only those "well-known" (whatever it means) topics can be WP:PRIMARYTOPICs? Timmyshin (talk) 14:35, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes! That's what "primary topic" means! If it's not well-known then it's not a primary topic. Of course most people haven't heard of most of our topics, but that's irrelevant to the matter at hand. The only question you need to ask is: are the vast majority of people searching for Huazhou looking for the modern city? I would suggest that, given the lack of knowledge of it in the English-speaking world, the answer can only be: "who knows?" That's not a primary topic. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:07, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Question While a subject no longer being around certainly does not clearly designate the extant subject as the primary topic, I would not be surprised if the page in question is actually the primary topic for the use of the term Huazhou, given that it evidently has a population of close to 1.5 million. However, given that all current articles at this name are stubs and I am struggling to get an authoritative sense of the situation from the english language sources I'm finding, could an editor who perhaps either lives in China, can get a sense of the term's use in Chinese sources, or is familiar with the area please chime in?--Yaksar (let's chat) 06:40, 3 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • In Chinese sources/writing these are 3 completely different names, this is only a romanization problem. Timmyshin (talk) 09:32, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - No evidence presented, again. Timmyshin can you explain why you have made yet another move proposal with no evidence presented and no reference to guidelines? In ictu oculi (talk) 16:55, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • The nominator is likely right, but needs to show that this city is the primary topic now that they've been questioned by others. The former prefectures seem like larger areas that had a long history. —innotata 22:47, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
