Clean up edit

I have majorly rewritten this article to keep its tone more neutral and to stick to facts actually in evidence:

  1. I have removed text that implied that Tat's A Current Affair segment was the basis for the HBO film. Although the film was based on the event, many news outlets covered the event, and there is no verification that Tat was in any way involved in the creation of the HBO film or that the film's writers were particularly inspired by his or any other news outlet's coverage of the event.
  2. Restated claims of number of episodes produced (from over 500 to over 150) based on actual filmography.
  3. Removed uncited claims about the success of The New Boy: when books reach a significant position on the Amazon best-seller lists, that becomes part of the "product details" for the book, but Amazon's entry for The New Boy makes no claims about its high position on any lists.

Tat is notable enough as it is for his accomplishments — no need to falsely inflate them. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:39, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Looks like the 1000+ produced episodes may be a legitimate claim. Variety appears to be a credible source. After all, IMDb has been known to be somewhat unreliable; I might even say remove the IMDb reference altogether. — MusikAnimal talk 23:41, 22 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Can you provide the specific Variety citation? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:14, 23 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
[1] at Harley_Tat#cite_ref-4. The copy reads "Tat served as exec producer ... having been around for all of [BlindDate's] five years and 1,000 plus episodes", which while doesn't explicitly state he produced every single of one of those episodes, it certainly implies it, and our article should reflect that. IMDb only lists four episodes over the course of two years, so by default one would have to dismiss that in favour of the more reliable source. Variety does not indicate how many episodes he produced for The 5th Wheel, however, so that sentence should be reworded. At any rate, a second source would be helpful, though (arguably) not necessarily needed. — MusikAnimal talk 15:00, 23 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Actually, what it implies (or at least, what I infer) is that Tat worked on Blind Date for the entirety of its 5-year run, but served only briefly as series Executive Producer near the end of its run. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:24, 23 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hmm I think you may be right, but that begs the question of what he "worked on" during that 5-year run. A second source is needed. For now, I'd rewrite to keep things reflective of what we do know, still not rely too heavily on IMDb as a source of factual information. I only initially included it as no other source was able to be found, and it did not present anything contentious in contrast to previous claims. — MusikAnimal talk 15:49, 23 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. I just caution Lucasgfroehlich (talk · contribs) to refrain from editing this page until his conflict of interest can be explained. I have contacted him on his talk page about this. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 16:00, 23 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
