Responsibilities/Views section edit

Hey Rosguill, thanks for reviewing this page. When developing it a little more, I added the same quote, I guess forgetting that I had added it earlier, without seeing that you had removed it. After seeing your note, I tried to further contextualize it a bit. I feel these dynamics are important to address in the article somehow, as they have been brought up repeatedly in the media coverage. Could you take a look and see what you think? Thanks. إيان (talk) 14:25, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

إيان, I think that with the rewrite and the additional citation to The Independent it's better justified as a part of the article. I would make the general argument, however, that while I personally believe that being conscientious of matters of colonialism and orientalism would be important for a record company such as this, unless secondary sources have devoted coverage to this aspect, we as Wikipedia editors can't actually judge whether the subject actually holds themselves to the anti-colonial ideals that they profess; given the level of coverage in the previous revision, for all we knew this was just a marketing ploy by Habibi Funk and they don't actually follow through on their commitment to these ideals. Including a discussion of the label's anti-colonial practices before we have the secondary sources to back them up isn't just an attempt to Right Great Wrongs, it's performing original research using a primary source. signed, Rosguill talk 17:42, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
