very much needs expansion
editSeeing as Grover tuner fetches up at this article, it seems that something ought to be said about Grover tuners, eh? Leading up to that, maybe Machine head could be somehow relevant.
The sealed cast-body Grover Rotomatics were a commercial game-changer, and original equipment on better-quality guitar models from a couple dozen brands, from at least the 1960s through the 1990s. A couple dozen WP articles about guitars & guitarists specifically mention "Grover tuners" & another half-dozen mention Rotomatics.
In recent years, open-frame Waverly tuners have been a fad for acoustic guitars, with accompanying "boutique" price (three to five times the cost of Rotomatics), so it's amusing that Waverlys are a direct copy of 1930s Grover Sta-Tites.
