editDoesn't there appear to be an over-emphasis on individual football games during his time as manager of Celtic towards the end of the article? Maybe they would be better suited to an artice concerning Celtic FC rather than Gordon Strachan as an individual? - 25-Mar-06
Humour
editSouthampton manager Gordon Strachan on Wayne Rooney Its an incredible rise to stardom. At 17 you're more likely to get a call from Michael Jackson than Sven Goran Eriksson.
Reporter: Gordon, Do you think James Beattie deserves to be in the England squad? Strachan: I dont care, I'm Scottish
Reporter: "Gordon, can we have a quick word please?" Strachan: "Velocity" [walks off]
Reporter: Welcome to Southampton Football Club. Do you think you are the right man to turn things around? Strachan: No. I was asked if I thought I was the right man for the job and I said, "No, I think they should have got George Graham because I'm useless."
Reporter: Is that your best start to a season? Strachan: Well I've still got a job so it's far better than the Coventry one, that's for sure.
Reporter: Are you getting where you want to be with this team? Strachan: We're not doing bad. What do you expect us to be like? We were eighth in the league last year, in the cup final and we got into Europe. I don't know where you expect me to get to. Do you expect us to win the Champions League?
Reporter: Gordon, you must be delighted with that result? Strachan: You're spot on! You can read me like a book.
Strachan: I've got more important things to think about. I've got a yogurt to finish by today, the expiry date is today. That can be my priority rather than Agustin Delgado.
Reporter: This might sound like a daft question, but you'll be happy to get your first win under your belt, won't you? Strachan: You're right. It is a daft question. I'm not even going to bother answering that one. It is a daft question, you're spot on there.
Reporter: Bang, there goes your unbeaten run. Can you take it? Strachan: No, I'm just going to crumble like a wreck. I'll go home, become an alcoholic and maybe! jump of a bridge. Umm, I think I can take it, yeah.
Reporter: There's no negative vibes or negative feelings here? Strachan: Apart from yourself, we're all quite positive round here. I'm going to whack you over the head with a big stick, down negative man, down.
Reporter: where will Marion Pahars fit into the team line-up? Strachan: Not telling you! It's a secret. >
Reporter: You don't take losing lightly, do you Gordon? Strachan: I don't take stupid comments lightly either.
Reporter: So, Gordon, in what areas do you think Middlesbrough were better than you today? Strachan: What areas? Mainly that big green one out there....
Song
editSomeone should mention The Hitchers song :-) Bastie 12:33, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Managerial Stats
editShould preseason games be mentioned in his stats? I don't believe so, it is appears that they are. Captkrob 17:43, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Muirhouse
editThe article on Muirhouse says GS was brought up there. If this is true, it ought to be in this article, but I can find no mention of it. Possibly that is why a fact-tag has been stuck in the Muirhouse aritcle. Can someone familiar with the biography clear this up please? --Doric Loon 21:52, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
"Rivalry" with Alex Ferguson
editWouldn't this information be less out-of-context in the club section? Explaining why Fergie bombed him out of Man Utd, rather than randomly placing it underneath the Middlesbrough part? 90.207.76.207 (talk) 18:02, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- It's a separate section to the Middlesbrough section. Part of his managerial career. The sources cover the managerial sections for the most party and the quotes are from writings during that period. If we have a source about being forced out of Man U then go ahead and put something in the club section about it. The whole club section needs a little work anyway I think. --Errant Tmorton166(Talk) 18:21, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- But all the other managerial career subsections refer to periods in his career, rather than an alleged rivalry with a much more successful manager. I find it bizarre that you argued for the removal of the material then, apparently because one editor at the BLP noticeboard disagreed, you made it into an entire section. 90.207.76.207 (talk) 19:10, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- My concern at the time was over the wording of the content. Other editors questioned the context/content. The BLP editor addressed the content concerns and I did manage to read the source - hence it's inclusion. The Mangerial career section is for the most part chronological but that is only for simplicity in relation to his clubs. The content at the end is perfectly acceptable and covers a long running rivalry with Ferguson. If you prefer we could make it a top level heading. Most of their public rivalry was during their managerial careers so it seems logical for that content to go there. --Errant Tmorton166(Talk) 19:20, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think it's acceptable or logical at all. The "couldn't be trusted an inch" business related to Strachan going behind Fergie's back as a player in 1984 and arranging a move to Cologne. See here and here. 90.207.76.207 (talk) 20:06, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've got no major issues with it going in the club section; but it seems odd to have late 90's biography comments - which were part of an active public dispute during their managerial career at that time - in the clubs. It would seem better to cite directly info on any disputes they had at the time. Perhaps we could find them and split it into a full top level section seeing as it covers club and managerial careers. --Errant Tmorton166(Talk) 20:38, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed. Perhaps we should also have a top level section of the 'rivalry' he has enjoyed with his own club's supporters throughout his managerial career? Or would this be better split into each club section? 90.207.76.207 (talk) 21:00, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- That doesn't seem "natural". Dispute with Ferguson spanned his whole career (particularly at a managerial level). If you have specific duiscussion of the fact he was abnormally disliked by club fans then it might warrant a mention - but all managers are hated at some point :) --Errant Tmorton166(Talk) 21:02, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

I was wavering between B and start but thought that the amount of detail just about swung it into B.
