Having a last appearance
editLast appearances are only used for, well their last appearance, not their latest appearances. Since they're still making Godzilla films and there are no plans of stopping, last appearance is inappropriate to use in this article. - You're taking the word "last" too literal here. In this context, Last appearance does not mean the same as "final" appearance, it means what was the most latest film the character appeared in. As of now, Godzilla's last appearance in any movie was Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters. There is no rule on Wiki's Manual of Style guidelines that state that "last appearances" should be removed, therefore, it should not be removed from the article. Do we list Godzilla's latest appearance as his last appearance, even though there are more films in production, or do we leave it blank until/unless the franchise is retired? JDDJS (talk) 19:34, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- Like I said, you're taking "last" appearance too literal. In this context, "last" does not mean the same as "final". It's like when someone asks you "when was the last time you saw this or that", it does not mean the "final" time you will ever see it, it means what was the "latest" you saw this or that. Armegon (talk) 19:50, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- Can you point to another article that uses last appearance in a similar context? JDDJS (talk) 21:13, 17 November 2017 (UTC)
- I thought you'd never ask. There's plenty that use last appearance in similar context. Check it... Tony Montana, Gamera, King Kong, Zilla, Anguirus, Rodan, Mothra, Mechagodzilla, King Ghidorah, Mechani-Kong... the list goes on for Godzilla's rogues gallery. - : How about rewording to "most recent" ? Markbassett (talk) 21:03, 19 November 2017 (UTC)
- This is not a new discussion, nor a localized one. See Template talk:Infobox character#"Last appearance" in the infobox. Based on my reading of that page, "Last" should not be populated if the character is expected to return. Argento Surfer (talk) 14:00, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
- Sent here by a bot, but I agree with @Argento Surfer:. Godzilla will likely never have a last appearance, and so it should be left empty. Killer Moff (talk) 11:26, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
Wow
editFor some reason there's like 4 incarnation pages of godzilla (Shin, Monsterverse, Heisei, Minus one) I'm kinda surprise that showa wasn't the 4th one Shinagawakun3000 (talk) 18:45, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- Those Gojiras are the iconic ones, that's why they're on Wikipedia. GojiraFan1954 (talk) 04:48, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
