Genre issues

edit

This is a "romantic action thriller"?? The whole idea of genre is that it contains a set of conventions. A thriller film can contain romantic elements. That does not necessarily mean that it's also a romance film. Similarly, a romance film can contain thriller elements without being a thriller. In fact, as an example, almost all Hollywood thrillers and action films have romantic sub-plots involving a given film's protagonist (usually male) and the female lead. This is how the convention has been established over decades. Of course, we all know it's not uncommon to have what is termed an "action thriller." This is because the action and thriller genres are both fairly closely related. For those that are familiar with biological taxonomy, the thriller and action genres are both like "classes" within the same "phylum," if you will. The romance genre, on the other hand, is in an entirely different phylum. A romance film is something along the lines of When Harry Met Sally or The English Patient. Now, of course, genres can be distorted to the directors will. They're obviously not always rigid entities. If one wanted, s/he could create an action/romance/western/horror movie. And, sure enough, many directors have made movies that practically defy generic categorization by blending conventions from a multitude of genres. But it seems, in this case, that isn't so. Consequently, someone who has seen this movie should change the genre designation accordingly. Many thanks. Cheers, ask123 (talk) 21:51, 1 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Lengthy synopsis

edit

The synopsis also needs some work to be done..this reads more like a screenplay..every shot is described! trakesht (talk) 05:50, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

biased

edit

Mentioning that this movie is better than the Tamil version is an opinion. It was influenced by Memento is sufficient instead of an obviously biased rant about how the film is not copy of Memento since it is clearly another "BollyCat". 67.82.235.119 (talk) 13:45, 19 January 2009 (UTC) savanReply

edit

1. Shouldn't this article mention the Tamil film, since the Hindi film was just a remake of it?

2. If needed, there could be a disambiguation page

3. The article should also mention that it is a remake of Memento.

Any comments? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.186.12.216 (talk) 06:44, 31 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

There is a link to the Tamil film in the first para The search for Ghajini leads to a disambiguation page.. There was a mention of the remake of memento in this page, but was removed some time ago. Since this is an official remake of the Tamil film , which in turn may have been "inspired" by memento, I guess its sufficient to put that hindi is a remake of tamil film in the hindi page and that tamil may have been inspired by memento in the tamil page

Gross

edit

What is the official gross of the film? World Cinema Writer (talkcontributions) 10:33, 10 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Also, the film was not the first to gross more than 1 billion rupees. Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge achieved that milestone more than a decade earlier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahrukhkhan1968 (talkcontribs) 00:21, 19 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Plagiarism

edit

Why is this not mentioned outright? The director/writer clearly ripped off significant plot devices from Chris Nolan's "Memento" and didn't license it from Memento's makers. Sounds very much like plagiarism to me rather than the watered down euphemism "inspiration" given in this article.

Proposal to merge the article Ghajini (soundtrack) into this article Ghajini (2008 film). The content together is better for reading. Also the destination page size can accommodate merger. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 10:17, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Support. From what I remember about the film's article, the soundtrack part is simply the soundtrack section copied into a new article. ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 11:59, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Support: Should be merged with the main film article. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 03:09, 3 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
