Origins of statue

edit

I have a carved wooden statue of Mary that used to be at (the old) Our Lady of the Sacred Heart church on Columbia and Reading Roads in Reading, Ohio. The church was established in 1847.

The statue has a placque with "Mayer & Co. Munich Artistic Establishment"

I am interested in the statues origin and would like to repaint it to it's original colors. If this statue is antique and valuable I may consider having it professionally restored.

Any information would be appreciated.

F. Mayer Works in US

edit

The Basilica of Mission San Francisco de Asís (Mission Dolores) in San Francisco, CA can be added to the list. The stained glass in the newer basilica alongside the original mission has stained glass windows by F. Mayer. Only one or two are signed as here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/spidra/6252525877 Spidra (talk) 06:08, 17 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
