Mapuche cannibalism

The article reads:

They withdrew but the fate of two captured are believed to have perished by ritual cannibalism.[13][32]

Yet it is not clear if this belief is that of the Drake's men, of later historians or someone else. Sietecolores (talk) 11:43, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

English very aware of spices and their worth

There is a comment within the very unfortunately short section on the Spices Isles, stating 'The values of these spices were virtually unknown to the English at this time' - this is a completely false statement to make, and the source it is attached to will need clarification as to if this author made such a claim. Every single European in late 16th century Europe was fully aware of the worth and value of Spices. This entire section requires some comprehensive revision please, because the entire premise of Drakes voyage was to find the Spice Isles as much as any other stated objective, and to break Portuguese monopolisation of the Spice Trade, as was Magellan-Elcano's mission which inadvertently achieved circumnavigation as a byproduct. "Golden Hind" without an "e", for the original ship.

The article about the original ship uses the spelling "Hind" for the original ship, and "Hinde" with an "e" for the replica. I have made the circumnavigation article consistent with the ship article. Also "Golden Hind" gets ten times more Google hits than "Golden Hinde". Polar Apposite (talk) 22:25, 16 October 2022 (UTC)

Mocha Island details

The overall description is right, but can we clarify details?

1. how many men went to get water? Several sources say two were ashore getting water when they were captured and ten were in the boat. That makes 12. Source for 11? Sariamento says two killed ashore plus 9 injured - is that the 11? Nuno de Silva says two ashore killed plus 10 injured.

2. several sources say "all" were injured - can we update to include that?

3. how many of the injured died? John Drake (second deposition) says 2 or 3 in the boat died of "all" injured. San Juan de Anton says two were killed (ashore?) and doesn't state about other deaths. Nuno de Silva says two ashore died plus 10 injured (in the boat): 1 of the 10 later died. Does the later death of Diego, attributed to this attack, get added in?
