Talk:Foster care in the United States

How come there are only a few states listed (California, New York, Texas, and Maryland) in the “state by state” category in the article. There are fifty states in the United States. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hopeglory (talkcontribs) 17:41, 8 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Req info from 2014

edit

24.50.151.151 (talk) 21:10, 7 January 2015 (UTC) Where is the information on grandparents societally coerced into foster care? What condition is their health? This information is available on science sites. What federal agencies are collating infor on the outcomes? For all the states, not just one or two. This information MUST be available as there are 1/2 million children separated from their parents. How could this be happening if the paperwork and the legal supporting documentation is not available to the parents?Reply

Possible Addition

edit

I am considering adding more information on extended foster care in the US, or the possibility of using this as the parent article for a page on extended foster care, or adding that to the Fostering Connections section.--Rcotterj (talk) 20:21, 13 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

We should create the Foster care to prison pipeline due to many kids go to jail within two years of leaving foster care.(64.63.171.234 (talk) 19:43, 21 November 2021 (UTC))Reply

Proposed Edits

edit

I would like to rename the subheading of "Funding and system incentives" to "Foster care structure" and move it below the subsection of "Constitutional issues". I will also be adding to this section information about the structuring of the foster care system in the united states.

I wish to add a new subsection entitled "Critical debates" after the newly-named "Foster care structure" where I will discuss the monitoring problem within the foster care system, the debate about how the "harmfulness" of foster care services should be addressed, the standards of foster care selection and intervention, and the concern of racial bias within foster care. I would like to move the information under the subsection entitled "U.S. Academic Opposition to foster care" from the Foster care page to under this "Critical debates" subsection.

Additionally, I will be contributing all my references to the "References" section.

Factors Shaping the Behavior of Children's Lawyers in Dependency Court

edit

I plan to discuss the institution of the family court system that leads many attorneys who represent children to push for extensions to family separation and advocate for child placement in foster care. 801johnna (talk) 19:03, 17 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
