Untitled edit

The photo is to the wrong Florence Roberts. There were two Florence Roberts of note, the one this article describes (1861-1940) and the lesser known but more attractive stage actress (1871-1927). They are quite often mixed up in film and stage biographies. The lithograph here is to the stage actress, a more regal and statuesque woman than the short plump beloved character actress. So I'll move it. Koplimek (talk) 00:28, 27 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Place of birth edit

I have put Isle of Man in place of Frederick, Maryland, as her place of birth. Frederick, Maryland, had no citation, so I don't know where someone found it. Her obituary in The New York Times says Isle of Man. Eddie Blick (talk) 01:28, 15 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

– Not a case of WP:ONEOTHER. Neither actress was a star, although the younger actress had been a minor stage star in her time. Moreover, while the large majority of her acting roles were on stage, she did star as the title character in at least one film, thus she was not strictly a "(stage actress)", while a number of the older actress' film appearances were uncredited bits. Wikipedia has over 50,000 two-entry dab pages {User:RussBot/Two-link disambiguation pages/001}, so it would not be unusual for this particular base name to become the main header of a dab page. — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 04:09, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • Support per now.--Ortizesp (talk) 13:03, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Oppose first, support second per WP:TWODABS. The article currently at the basename gets three-quarters of pageviews, which is a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC by usage, even given the basename bump. • Oppose fisrt, support second - this does seem to be a case of WP:ONEOTHER, but also the (stage actress) disambiguation is insufficient. These two actresses are easily confused, and using birth year seems unfortunately required in this case. -- Netoholic @ 21:06, 30 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose first, support second. I think the older actress does just edge out the younger on notability. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:34, 6 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Section "Legal settlement" has been deleted since it apparently refers to another actress edit

The text of the section is: "Actor Robert Gottschall|Robert Shaw settled a lawsuit with an actress, Florence Roberts (stage name: Etna Ross), who brought a $50,000 lawsuit against Shaw, who allegedly had thrown her down a staircase while the two worked together in a road company. The suit was settled in January 1937." An actress named Etna Ross (whose birth name may have been "Florence Roberts") is listed on IMDb, but she is not related to the subject of this article. —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 09:44, 27 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
