Was surprised to see this page about my grandfather, wonderful! He was a traveling salesman for Macklanburg-Duncan (now known as M-D Building Products) selling weather-stripping and later other building products (not really hotel furnishings). Ferd's father Harry McKay Duncan was the original partner with Louis August Macklanburg of that company.
Prior attending to University of Florida, Ferd played football for University of South Dakota and was a captain there, not so sure he played for Oklahoma. I have his University of South Dakota (Coyote 1916) and University of Florida (The Seminole 1922) yearbooks. He played football and basketball at both schools, and baseball at Florida.

Very neat. Unfortunately, newspapers are confused whether Newton or Duncan scored all the points against Alabama in 1921, but one or the other certainly did. Norm Carlson (long time Florida football historian) says it was Duncan, though he also makes the mistake of saying he played for Oklahoma. Carlson's book the "University of Florida football vault" has a great image of the team at the white house in 1922. I got my copy for a dollar at a Goodwill.
