Opening sentence
editI just made an edit to the opening sentence to address a 'citation needed' edit. However I am wondering if the phrase is accurate that feminism started in 1840. The current sentence centres New Zealand society as starting with colonisation, however this is not the case (feminism - equal rights for both men and women has also been researched to have been embedded in Māori culture prior to colonisation). The arguments for the concept of feminism starting in 1840 are explained later in the article so I propose the opening sentence is changed (not sure what to at this point). - I have made some edits to the opening section of this article. More input would be welcomed as a summary. More content in the article to contextualise feminism over different contexts and in different demographics in New Zealand would improve the article.Pakoire (talk) 10:36, 29 June 2020 (UTC)
