Fair use rationale for Image:Dopefelonsandrevolutionaries.jpg

edit

Image:Dopefelonsandrevolutionaries.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:17, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Track 8

edit

"The track listing on the back cover of some pressings does not state the song "Fuck tha Police" as existing on the record. This is most likely due to a typographical error or the producers had used too much of the space on the back of the album to the artwork."

Uh, no possibility whatsoever that the record label didn't want such a controversial phrase on the cover? That's what I assumed the reason was. It certainly wasn't due to lack of space, as there's plenty of room in the yellow box with the song titles; it could easily have contained one more. And an error is hard to believe, because the song isn't named anywhere inside the lyric booklet either; it's just listed as "Track 8" and the lyrics are not included. I'm pretty sure it was on purpose, and probably not the band's idea. 174.46.172.13 (talk) 09:58, 17 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • I tend to agree with you on this. "Fuck" is generally considered too harsh to be printed on the outside of an album's packaging. (See track 11 on MCR's Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge where the word was omitted from the title only on the back cover, but printed inside.) "Shit" sometimes gets by on indie labels though, like with Throwing Copper. Since Epic is a subsidiary of Sony Music, I expect they got a little bit of leeway with track 11 on FaR, but the line gets drawn at "fuck".
That, or maybe they didn't have the royalties sorted out to include the N.W.A. cover, but went ahead and put it on there anyway without a title. --Crimson Bleeding Souls (talk) 01:31, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
