First draft clean-ups edit

I can't translate "Palace of the Path of Golden Mask in Rome" and I find no comparable palazzo in my TCI Guide. What is the Italian that's being translated here? The concluding statement, "the Accademia dei Lincei did not survive his death." needs some explication since the revived Accademia dei Lincei is currently so well known. --Wetman (talk) 00:33, 27 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

The source for "Path of Golden Mask in Rome" came from this web app translated page[1] (second reference in the current article). I speak no Italian so am relying on that code translation. Here is the popup Italian original text (I hope):
  • Federico Cesi nasce a Roma, nel palazzo di via della Maschera d'Oro, il 26 febbraio 1585 da Federico, marchese di Monticelli (dal 1588 primo duca di Acquasparta, e dal 1613 principe di San Polo e di Sant'Angelo), e da Olimpia Orsini di Todi.
Acording to the article at Accademia dei Lincei, that Academy went through three incarnations, stating that "After Cesi's death, the academy closed", and was finaly revived in its current form in 1847 by Pope Pius IX. I will try to add that in some form. Fountains of Bryn Mawr (talk) 15:33, 28 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I am working on adding a new section about Cesi and Astronomy.Katefogarty7 (talk) 16:20, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I will be adding more to this astronomy section, focusing on some of the work he did with the Accademia dei Lincei.Kwyle1604 (talk) 17:32, 10 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

What was della Porta's role in this? edit

Adding a FACT tag after "When Cesi visited Naples, he met the polymath Giambattista della Porta. This inspired Cesi to found his own academy based on della Porta's Academia Secretorum Naturae, "Academy of the Secrets of Nature"". There are several conflicting versions of this on Wikipedia (that I have rewritten to more neutral text) since I can not find a reference as to what is true. They include "Della Porta ... established .. The Academy of the Lynxes"[2], and that "Cesi ... founded in Rome a branch of Porta's academy"[3]. I have found most of the answers to this question, removed FACT tags, and added references. Fountains of Bryn Mawr (talk) 16:07, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
