Removal of Speedy Delete tag edit

The article was tagged as a copyrite violation of http://www.flickr.com/photos/waynehuzzey/2335203134/ The text is very similar. Looking at http://www.flickr.com/photos/waynehuzzey/2335203134 it says that it was uploaded 15 Mar 2008. Going back through the page history to a version of this article prior to that date http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Copley_Plaza&oldid=190125766 (9 Feb 2008) it is an exact duplicate of that page. I think the flickr page copied this article not the other way around. A new name 2008 (talk) 12:38, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair enough - I didn't spot that. The page is still extremely spammy however. What exactly is notable about this hotel - in Wikiepdia terms? Jezhotwells (talk) 15:15, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
In its current state I do not see much that is notable. I guess this would fall under WP:Corp guidelines. If I get a chance I will look to see if I can find any referenes that can be used to establish notability. --A new name 2008 (talk) 16:52, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

I think it is notable, and it seems quite prestigious a hotel. This search should give articles focussed on the hotel, it returns 200 hits:[1] and this search gives nearly 6000 hits at least mentioning it:[2]. Fences&Windows 00:13, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

@Sladen: (beginning with the History Section)

The hotel is notable, and the promotional tone has been removed. Reify-tech (talk) 15:51, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 5 March 2021 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: This is a case of WP:NOGOODOPTIONS because everyone favors moving the page, while there's a split between "Copley Plaza" and "Fairmont Copley Plaza". However, the majority of editors, citing sources that use the "Fairmont" name, consider that using the current official name is preferable (and the short name may be confusing) so I'm going to call it that way. A follow up move could be filed for "Copley Plaza" or "The Copley Plaza" if desired. (non-admin closure) (t · c) buidhe 23:39, 9 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Fairmont Copley Plaza HotelFairmont Copley Plaza – Better title per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:CONCISE. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 00:24, 5 March 2021 (UTC) Relisting. ~ Aselestecharge-paritytime 01:13, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Rename to Copley Plaza. Notable under this name since its construction in 1912. The rest is unnecessary. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:05, 5 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I would support this too. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 14:39, 5 March 2021 (UTC) Support original move to Fairmont Copley Plaza, it does seem to be used as a common name, as seen here in Boston Magazine and Forbes. 162.208.168.92 (talk) 19:28, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 02:29, 7 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Relisting comment: (Non-administrator comment) So should it be Fairmont Copley Plaza or Copley Plaza? ~ Aselestecharge-paritytime 01:13, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Support original request of "Fairmont Copley Plaza" as that seems to be the current name. Rreagan007 (talk) 01:28, 12 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Rename to Copley Plaza per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:CONCISE. Fairmont is just the most recent brand name. Copley Plaza already redirects here; this will just revert an undiscussed page move from 2009. Station1 (talk) 10:10, 14 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Rename I recommend either renaming it "The Copley Plaza", which was the name it operated under before Sheraton and then between Sheraton and Wyndham, or even "The Copley Plaza Hotel", just to clarify its use. Simply titling the page "Copley Plaza" is confusing, because it sounds like a public square, and the hotel has never operated under that name, without the definite article "The".jamesluckard (talk) 07:06, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
