edit
An image used in this article, File:Esino lario.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Bibliography

edit

I have checked the bibliography in English but it is extremely extremely limited. I mentioned the touristic books in which Esino Lario is cited but to enrich the article the bibliography will be in Italian. --Iopensa (talk) 17:26, 30 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Wikimania notable?

edit

Wikimania is a relatively small conference. Esino Lario appears to small but also appears to be a suburb of Milan and is close to other small towns that are known for University such as Pavia. The town hosted 12,000 summer tourists in the 1970's (not sure what it is now.). My concern is that if Wikimania is "notable", what a frigging disaster it will be. If it can handle it, then it's probably not notable. "Accessibility" was an issue in signpost (not sure why "Chase Me Ladies" highlighted lack of Metal Health facilities in Manila as something to compare to physically unaccessible but I don't understand a lot of these arguments. Maybe its because I've done professional conferences that are much larger and uses professionals that don't use social justice arguments have weight over physical inaccessibility - i.e. Emergency Medical services is determined, not quality of mental health care). Anyway, is it really notable for this town? Anyone from the Milan area that can comment on how integrated it is with other towns? It's 2 hours from Pavia university which is my only reference. What conference center will be used (it must be a tourist town if it has facilities for 1000 people and infrastrucutre to move them from rail and plane to conference center. What kind of cell phone and internet access does hotel have OC-192 of 10Gbe? There is no rail service but 3 international airports are nearby. What's the mechanism to get people from the airport to conference center? Are the hotels near the conference center? Is WMF providing tents? How close is the larger Menaggio - commutable for a conference or is this some sort of test to see if Wikimania can be held in a commune? --DHeyward (talk) 14:18, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

I don't know most of the answers for what you have said above. My argument is simply that this town has not held something of the likes of Wikimania before, and it is expected to be the largest event to take place in the town for the foreseeable future. There will be plenty of media coverage to provide sourcing. So, I don't see why it can't be given a small mention. The next step is to find some more people to discuss and find a consensus; WMF people, it-wp users, even RfC. Rcsprinter123 (pitch) @ 14:30, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
I'd say: As long as Wikimania is notable for the encyclopedia (i.e. we have an article about it), it can be mentioned here as well. Gestumblindi (talk) 20:57, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Crude translation

edit

The English of this article is a disaster: looks being a machine translation from Italian. Some help? --'''Attilios''' (talk) 08:51, 14 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Don't you think it might be better to revise and rephrase the writing on the article instead of large blanket removals? It's not exactly unintelligible at present. Rcsprinter123 (post) 16:29, 14 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Image information

edit

A lot of the images should have more detailed information. For example, the photos under "Italian unification" have no information about when the photos were taken. The image of the "private act" could also use some clarification. The image page says it's from 1697, but it's quite unclear what the document is about.

Temperature

edit

Hello, the temperature data are wrong. An average of 22°C in July is more typical of the lower elevation places on the shore of the lake like, for example, Lecco or Varenna. I think that a checking on the sources is needed. --Remulazz (talk) 06:17, 29 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
