Title?

As Geneon's official release will be named Elemental Gelade, I am renaming this article accordingly. I mean, seriously, "Erementar"?!? Like "Crono" Crusade, an obvious error perpetrated by folks who either didn't know enough English to correct it or are too purist to know better.  :) -- Miwa 21:01, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Apparently Chrno was a mistake by the guy who drew up the manga cover artwork. All the same.. "Erementar" to "Elemental" is obvious, but what does "gelade" mean? Shiroi Hane 22:45, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Until the English-language version was announced "Erementer Gerad" was the 'official' translation, 'purist' or not, since it is in the logo and on the official site. Shiroi Hane 04:02, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

As long as there's a redirect to this page from Erementar Gerad, as well as a mention in the article somewhere about it being called Erementar Gerad (at least in Japan), I personally think it's fine as-is. Faladine 01:00, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

In any event, "Elemental Gelade" makes significantly more sense in English (i.e., to native English speakers). From this perspective, "Erementar Gerad", would be considered "Engrish".

As to the whats a gelade, its just speculation but I think its just a poor translation of glade.

Honestly, it doesn't really matter anymore. Erementar Gerad was the original title, but this is due to the unfortunate conversion of Japanese to English. R is phonetically similar to L in Japanese, so there is not much difference in how it is pronounced. For meaning, obviously Elemental makes more sense than Erementar. As for Gerad, we may not ever completely understand it. And glade doesn't seem to make anymore sense than Gelade in context. KojieroSaske 05:59, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

"Erementar Gerad" is clearly more popular and well known than "Elemental Gelade" and the Manual of Style for anime-related articles states that in such cases Erementar Gerad should be the name of the article. --Naruttebayo (talk) 21:43, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

I mean the most common method is G-Hits, but that's obviously full of holes... "Erementar Gerad" in Google will bring up Japanese, German, and the fansubs sites as well. Also, practically every English site say something among the lines "also known as Erementar Gerad in Japan". Rezumop (talk) 04:24, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

"Erementar Gerad" searched for English-only pages will still yield twice the results of "Elemental Gelade". A wide variety of the "Elemental Gelade" pages are official sources such as retailers or reviewers such as Anime News Network and Amazon.com, to give an example. Are you really Naruttebayo? The edit history shows Naruttebayo didn't write that last comment. Okay, where is "Sitting raid" and "Eden Raid" from? Those are not the spelling on the Japanese wiki and when I listen to the Japanese dub, I don't hear "sitting" or "Eden" at all. I don't agree with the spelling of "Eden", "sitting", "pledger", or "Erementar Gerad", but if those are more popular, I don't think I'm going to edit this article anymore. Flag of BlueSky

It may be a good idea to note how there are actually two separate storylines for the Erementar Gerad manga. "Flag of BlueSky" is the title of the second newer series. From what I know so far, it's only related to the original in concept...

According to Vol.3 of manga, Flag of Bluesky is a sequel to original series which featuring new main characters but there's still old characters from Red, so far, Wolx has appeared. I'll edit the article soon. - 04:19, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Artificial Eden Raids

What's the official name for them? Steam, Sitting, or Sting? I changed the name to 'Sting' in the Terminology section so that it matchs with the Translation and Character section, but knowing the official name would be nice. Offkorn 06:37, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

The short answer is, whatever is used by the localization staff. However, since there are often two different staffs for the manga and anime adaptations of a single title, one might run into two different official names. Since the anime is the more recognizable source, I'd go with that (but I don't have a copy of the R1 DVDs...) Magus Melchior 22:23, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Merge

Merger done, now that Beazon's part has been rewritten. But how about the other character articles? (especially the minor chars). They just contain plot, nothing more. Minor Edits

I made some minor edits to the main character by removing the reference to "Pleasure" and replacing it with "Pledge", since later releases of the manga use Pledge since its makes the most sense for the context it is used in versus Pleasure. Psyburn21 17:31, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Creating a Characters for Elemental Gelade

I suggest moving the detailed descriptions of the all characters into a single page like other anime series. That way, there can be a detailed description of each Pledge and Edel Raid, minor characters and descriptions of Arc Aile and Chaos Choir on that page as well.Psyburn21 22:50, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

The 'List of Characters from xxx' articles are created when the original article grows too large. There is currently no problem here, so I wouldn't do this yet. You can expand the character info on this article, and if it gets too large it can be moved to its own article. Ninja neko 14:14, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Pleasure vs. Pledger

There is need for a consensus on the actual name here: is it 'Pleasure' or is it 'Pledger'. Different editors keep changing back and forth.

I rented the Geneon's DVDs a while ago so I can't confirm, but I believe they use Edel Raid, Sting Raids, Edel Garden, and pleasures. Toothpyx 20:33, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Reading volume 4, the latest volume released by Tokyopop at the time I wrote this, they still use Pleasure. I'm changing pledger to pleasure until someone can give proof that it is Pledger. Tokyopop publishes for the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand so I'm going to assume it's the same for all 5 countries. Toothpyx 02:23, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Cleanup update

So I took off the cleanup tag and since the wp:cu states that I should document what I did on the talk page, I will. I...

• Fixed the header. It had too much japanese so I removed them except for the actual title.
• Split characters that were once paired.
• Place the voice actor's name under the character names and removed the long list at the bottom.
• Fixed the terms to match the official terms by Geneon or Tokyopop. Made sure the terms stayed consistent throughout the entire page.
• Removed the gallery, but I put the pictures in the manga section.
• Expanded the licensing section, split them up, and placed them in a media section.
• Added the missing game names, their genre, etc.
• Added the missing light novel infobox.
• Added an episode list.
• Added a plot section.

If anyone wants to help on this article, some stuff that you can do is:

• Write a longer header
• Expand on the plot.
• Merge cou, ren, cisqua, rowen, and Kuea's page into this one. No one writes in them and they're nothing but plot summaries.
• Add characters. Rig (minor), Fiora/Fiola (minor), the kids at the windmill village in the anime (minor), manga characters in volume 7+.
• Albums section (i have no idea what the ReNo albums are)
• light novel section (i can't find any info on them)
• reception section
• short plot summaries in the episode list
• Edel Raid section (I believe there should be a section for it)
