Eden Kane was arguably the last British solo star to succeed before the arrival of the Beatles edit

Reference 'he was arguably the last British solo star to succeed before the arrival of the Beatles'. What did he succeed in doing? Boatman (talk) 19:36, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Firstly, as an unsourced POV statement, it probably should not be in the article at all. But, to explain a bit further, he had five consecutive UK Top 10 hits, including a #1. Nothing unusual these days, but back then he was in a very small band indeed. Basically, as far as UK solo acts as chart-toppers were concerned; Lonnie Donegan, Cliff Richard, Shirley Bassey, Adam Faith and him. Somebody will recall another, but you get the point. As Kane was the last of those mentioned prior to the Beatles arrival on the scene, the statement has some credibility. OK ?

Hmm. John Leyton? Frank Ifield? Mike Sarne? All after Eden Kane. Better to take it out, I think.  :-) "Somebody" aka Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:48, 21 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
