• Oppose: "football" by itself means (1) the ball used in the game, (2) the game of football as a whole; to mean one particular team the word "team" should be kept. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 10:24, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
• Support: The main football article should follow the standards set by the college football wikiproject - ie. Michigan Wolverines football, Florida Gators football, Appalachian State Mountaineers football, Grand Valley State Lakers football, etc. Individual seasons follow the team format - ie. 2010 Florida Gators football team, 2008 Iowa Hawkeyes football team, etc. Really, this is a non-issue as these articles have always been moved uncontested. • Support: In accordance with Wikipedia:Article titles "Eastern Washington Eagles football" is preferable. It is "concise," "consistent," and ""precise." It is Concise because the word "team" is redundant. These articles are about more than just the team. They are about all the surrounds a college football program: facilities, traditions, and coaching. It is Consistent because as Geologik pointed out, all the other college programs use this shorter format. It is Precise because the shorter title is enough to identify the subject unambiguously. No one is seriously going to think that an article title "Easter Washington Eagles football" is going to be about one particular physical football as Anthony Appleyard suggests. It is clear from the title what the subject of the article is: the football program at Eastern Washington University. —Ute in DC (talk) 18:25, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
