DC versions edit

You have the GP39DCs covered twice. The 23 GP39s are C&O 3900-3919; Atlanta & Saint Andrews Bay 507 and Kennecott Copper 1-2. --SSW9389 (talk) 12:30, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

@SSW9389: It took 13 years, but the duplication has finally been addressed with a merger of the GP39DC article into this article! Trainsandotherthings (talk) 02:03, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Proposed Merger edit

The article EMD GP39DC is covering a nearly identical variant of the GP39, of which only two were ever produced. It is unlikely the GP39DC page will ever advance beyond a stub because there is very little information specific to the GP39DC. I believe it would be better to merge the GP39DC into this article, so everything is in one place. Additionally, another editor has asserted that the GP39DC article is a duplicate as the two locomotives are also included in this page. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 18:57, 3 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Support: There's no sense having a separate article for a barely distinguishable variant. (I personally would support merging both articles with the EMD GP39-2 article - see EMD F40PH for a good example of handling multiple variants in a single well-written article.) I am going ahead with the merger as there is unanimous consent. It can always be reverted if someone has an objection. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 01:42, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
