I have deleted the paragraph which criticized from a narrow view the use by Eddison (in The Worm Ourobouros only, though the paragraph implied that it ran throughout his work) the use of "Witches," etc. to denote various groups. (Contrary to the statement in the deleted paragraph, no group is called "Fairies"). This was at best POV and a narrow one. 4.236.162.149 21:18, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Worm Ouroboros Cover.jpg

Image:Worm Ouroboros Cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Tolkien's opinion

Privately Tolkien found the underlying philosophy rebarbative, and clashed with Eddison at their sole meeting, who in return thought Tolkien's views "soft".

It would be good if this could be cited, especially since it is somewhat contradictory to the earlier statement that Tolkien praised Eddison in his letters (which, I would think, would also be an expression of private opinion).

Philip Sidney Nairn

I'm not sure where to ask this question; I hope this is the place. On 7 March 2011 I made a minor correction to the article. The article stated that Eddison's friend PS Nairn "died in his youth during World War One." In fact, he died May 18, 1914, age 30, in Malaya, where he was a colonial administrator. The correction was reverted, and I'm curious to know why. Mumpsimus (talk) 00:31, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

This is the right place to ask the question. The answer is simply that the version you replaced had a reference verifying the information, while your version did not. Nothing against your information, but it needs a source. -- Elphion (talk) 17:46, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

I can see no reason why Sawyer's version should be preferred to Eddison's, and since Sawyer and Eddison appear to have been friends, I would have thought that Eddison's would be more likely to be accurate. So why has not this error been corrected ? Inklings

The source currently given offers a grab-bag of vaguely related authors, several of whom [like Eddison and Gresham] were never members of the group. Also, I would argue that "strong praise" significantly overstates at least Tolkien's approbation of Rücker. -- Elphion (talk) 06:22, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
