Talk:Dwarkanath Tagore

Please revise edit

This is a badly written article without any references. This needs to be rewritten properly with facts and not merely vague personal opinions. Will someone please come forward? -- Seejee 03:13, 19 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why Buried? edit

As Hindus are generally cremated de riguer, it would be interesting if more could be mentioned about his burial - had it been voluntarily desired (say, in his will if he made one) or was it forced upon him because of the fact there was not yet a crematorium in Britain and cremation in this country was anyway not yet legal?Cloptonson (talk) 20:03, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

The problem is probably that nobody knew what to do, as nobody was familiar with his faith. He was buried without any form of religious ceremony. Odd for a man of his position. His family, however, performed a religious ceremony using an effigy, on the banks of the Ganges, I believe this is called a sraddha. But if memory serves me right, even that did not go well, because of religious problems. JHvW 11:04, 13 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Family history edit

The section on the family history is identical in the articles of Rabindranath, Dwarkanath and Debendranath Tagore and uses the same reference, suggesting that it was written by the same person or was copied. It was also badly written. Unfortunately I do not read Sanskrit so I can not verify the reference but I have changed this section in all three articles so that they are consistent. IMHO the article needs to be looked at by somebody who is familiair with both subject matter and Sanskrit. JHvW 06:35, 13 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
