What he's up to now, as of 21.05.2012
editLooks like an Ian Fleming movie: http://www.avclub.com/articles/duncan-jones-is-making-a-movie-about-james-bond-cr,75416/ 99.89.227.190 (talk)
It's not clear who had custody. 165.121.168.109
At Gordonstoun he was known as 'Joe', not 'Joey'.
Pronunciation
editIt isn't clear if the name is pronounced as written (ZOW-ee) or to rhyme with BOE-ee. Clarification and citation is required. -67.78.133.90 21:09, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- On Bowie at the Beeb, John Peel specifically talks about Bowie's new child as being named 'Zowie, to rhyme with Bowie' (pronouncing it BOE-ee), as an introdution to "It Ain't Easy". --David Edgar 18:45, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Also, on the Dick Cavett show (available on youtube) Bowie is asked how to pronounce his son's name, and he gives it as zowie bowie. Vithar Alderland (talk) 00:31, 8 August 2010 (UTC) Update: That is with Zowie rhyming on Bowie - according to db himself.
If someone cares enough to correct, the commonwealth-american school is in pully, a suburb of lausanne. joe jones, as he was then called was there until '82 at least. he was a grade below me.
Seconding the comment above. CAS (now ISL http://www.isl.ch/index.cfm) was in Pully at the time. I remember him being called Joe Jones, he was a few grades above me (I was at CAS 78-83, so it's sometime in that period). I have a vague recollection he was an "upper school" kid, so 5th grade at least. StephanieBooth (talk) 17:39, 9 October 2011 (UTC)
ALEXANDRIA (LEXI) JONES WAS BORN ON 15TH AUGUST 2000 (not 1998)Ajowen (talk) 11:24, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Heywood
editWas he born with Heywood as a second middle name, or did he take it on later? Heywood is the last name of his stepmother's second husband. Is that just a coincidence?24.15.64.137 (talk) 23:17, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
- Huh? Who, what? It is Haywood, not Heywood. Mezigue (talk) 07:44, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
- David (Bowie) Jones's father was called Haywood Stenton Jones. Haywood died when David was about 21, a few years before Duncan was born. I don't think David has ever commented on it, but it seems obvious that the middle name 'Haywood' was chosen in memory of David's father. Nothing whatever to do with Iman's second husband. Though if we go looking for odd coincidences, David's half-sister (illegitimate daughter of Haywood Stenton Jones) moved to Egypt, married an Egyptian, converted to Islam, and took the Islamic name Iman. 81.157.69.173 (talk) 18:16, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
- It's unfortunate there is no RS source for this. I think it could be added if there was one.I guess a footnote is possible, just saying "David Bowie's father was called Haywood Stenton Jones." That bit is easily sourced: "Bowie mourns mother's death". BBC News. 2 April 2001. Archived from the original on 11 January 2016. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:57, 17 December 2021 (UTC)
Duncan
editSorry if I missed it, but is there any information detailing when he started self-referring as Duncan, and why?
WHERE'S THE SCOTTISH CONNECTION?
editDespite his having a common Scottish first name I cannot find in either of the subject's parentage any evidence of Scottish heritage. I would ask Wikipedia therefore to remove the subject from the category that connects him to Scotland -- at least until a member can provide incontestable evidence to justify the entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donut186 (talk • contribs) 03:48, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
