Talk:Drug-impaired driving

Laws have recently been introduced in this area in the UK. There is no information on the subject in this article about this anywhere in the world. I suggest that the abuse, addiction and ignorance of the possibility of driving impairment due to 'normal' use of prescription medicines and the possible legal penalties should be included in this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.93.36.115 (talk) 13:46, 27 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

I agree. The article seems to basically assume that any drug-associated impairment is a consequence of recreational drug use, but impairment can result from legitimate medical drug use as well. And laws that are intended to target recreational use can be inappropriately applied to medical drug users – e.g., a non-impaired person may have traces of a medically-prescribed drug in their system. — BarrelProof (talk) 20:22, 15 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Merge proposal (May 2018)

edit

I've just removed a proposed deletion for DUID ("driving under influence of drugs"). It was PRODded based on the similarity of a more umbrella article Driving under the influence. That would be a better argument for merging, not deleting.

That being said, I think the better merge target is to this article, Drug–impaired driving. This article is on the same subject, and is currently tagged for globalization, since it discusses only U.S. and Canada. The content in DUID, covering New Zealand, UK and other European nations, would be a perfect fit to both consolidate the material and address this artticle's globalization issues. Add info about consequences of drunk driving

edit

Hi, I'd request you, adding details about consequences of drunk driving accidents, to the article. I'm unsure if it'll still remain encyclopedic, but surely it will look much better than before. You can start writing about consequences from the section Punishments given incase of injuries or deaths in cases involving drunk driving" here. 37.111.137.138 (talk) 08:33, 7 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
