Requested move 27 December 2015 edit

The following is a closed discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the proposal was move per request. A history swap has been done as the redirect at the target had a non-trivial page history.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 15:18, 3 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Digital Audio Radio ServiceDigital audio radio service – Please place your rationale for the proposed move here. Tony (talk) 08:36, 27 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

The opening says it all: "Digital Audio Radio Service (DARS) refers to any type of digital radio service." So it's generic. Per WP:MOSCAPS ("Wikipedia avoids unnecessary capitalization") and WP:TITLE, this is a generic, common term, not a propriety or commercial term, so the article title should be downcased. In addition, WP:MOSCAPS says that a compound item should not be upcased just because it is abbreviated with caps. An Ngram search reveals strong majority downcased usage in books. • Support – clearly generic in this article, whether or not there's also a standard or protocol by that name. Dicklyon (talk) 02:38, 31 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Munged content? edit

This page seems a munge between the generic "digital audio radio service" term and the specific technology of SDARS. Can any USAian advise whether the dars term is used equally for non-SDARS systems, such as HD Radio? Maybe the page should be split? --MilkMiruku (talk) 18:05, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
